Team Lobo vs Thanos

After the events of Flashpoint, the real Lobo (pre-New 52) finds himself misplaced from the new continuity of the DCnU. After wandering around aimlessly through the vast emptiness for what he perceived as decades, he finds himself sucked into the Marvel Universe. In this "new" universe, the Last Czarnian realizes he is devoid of his infamous reputation. To right this wrong, Lobo decides to hunt down the "Baddest Bastich" in this universe: Thanos. Knowing it would be foolish to take on Thanos alone, Lobo assembles a team to assist him: Rocket Raccoon, Angela, Groot, Silver Surfer, and himself of course.

Rules:

1. Team gets 1 hr of prep. Thanos has no prep.
2. Standard Gear + items acquired during prep-time.
3. Morals on, in character.
4. Lobo is pre-New 52; Marvel characters are their current, standard, 616 selves.
5. Battle takes place on an Earth-sized, indestructible planet.
6. Win by death, KO, or incapitation.

Can the Main Man and his cohorts prevail? Or will the might of the Mad Titan prove to much for them?

Full-powered Angela? Or nah?

I'm thinking Thanos.

But I think someone said something about her getting an upgrade or something after her trial in Heaven, which let her take down some Dark God or something?

I dunno, I think I skipped those issues of Spawn.

And personally, I'd still back Thanos even with the inclusion of Surfer.

- Thanos can one shot Groot.

- Barring some PiS Gun, Rocket isn't much of a factor.

- Silver Surfer generally isn't an issue for Thanos. Thanos has consistently outperformed Surfer head to head, and in A>B>C scenarios against Odin, Power Gem Thor, Lord Marvel. 25 years after their first encounter, Surfer has yet to injure Thanos, or really prove to me that he can get the job done.

- I am unfamiliar with Angela's power level. The "Killed a Death God" feat is interesting, and I would love any explanation from a vine user more versed than myself in Spawn.

- Lobo is the most interesting character in this battle. From what I do know about him, has some feat inconsistency, but he seems like he would be a good match for Thanos in hand to hand combat.

If you combine Lobo's physical stats with Surfer's power set, and amped it a bit, you'd basically have Thanos. I think I need to hear more about Angela before I really decide.

Angela just put a beating on fairly pissed off Thor a few weeks ago, for what that's worth. On phone or I'd post spoilers about Angela

Thanos has shown that he can absolutely STOMP Surfer when he wants to.

Since the Team doesn't even = Surfer, it's basically Lobo and Surfer with a little bit of help from RR vs. Thanos.

And Thanos wins that IMO.

@venomoustaco: Thanos has consistently manhandled SS and other high herald tier characters like Thor, Hulk, etc and has survived encounters with the likes of Odin, Big G, etc so I don't see team as that big of a threat to him

1. Thanos is stronger than anyone on Lobo's Team Physically

2. Thanos Cosmic Energy Manipulation would eat up basically anyone on Lobo's Team

3. Thanos Mental Powers and Molecular Manipulation abilities puts him ahead of anyone on Lobo's Team

4. You had to add the Silver Surfer to Lobo's Team after I had already posted just to even make the fight decent... the fact that you had to add such a powerful character to Lobo's Team shows that his team lacked any possible way of winning. Again, after we had already posted our choices. Well at least mine.

@king_saturn: Yeah, sorry about the random, mid-thread, battle edit. I presumed it was relatively even do to the prep advantage and Rocket.

@venomoustaco: Do you know what hyperbole is? I was using said literary device to show how blatantly obvious the outcome of this battle is, implying that one would need only the most basic and rudimentary knowledge of Thanos to know the outcome.

The Silver Surfer is nothing to Thanos.

@thebourneposter: Yes, I'm aware of the literary device know as "hyperbole." Although I wouldn't label your post as one since a hyperbole literally means an extreme over-exaggeration. You merely made a slightly condescending statement on the "obvious" nature of the outcome. Similar, but nonetheless, not a hyperbole.

Regardless, I was fairly certain you were not entirely serious in that post. As in, you didn't necessarily mean what you wrote, which is why I used an emoticon to "alleviate" the tension.
