Gear/Illyana: Non-magical counterpart of her Soulsword (claymore?) & standard attire

Restrictions: Illyana cannot utilize her magic or mutant ability, this match is pure swordsmanship (or H2H if disarmed)

Location/Setting - Dungeon Mines

• Random encounter, both begin 50 feet apart
• Environment is usable if needed
• No civilians or monsters, only both fighters occupy the area

Does Illyana actually have swordsman training?

And Talia? how is her skill level?

No idea. I've heard mediocre. Never read any DC prior to the new-52, though.

I don't remember any swordsmanship from Talia apart from that fight with Scandal Savage where she seemed to have the advantage before Knockout knocked her out. H2H-wise, she kinda sorta stalemated pre-Shiva Black Canary.

Batman Inc#2 shows a brief flashback of Talia as a child being trained in swordsmanship by the League of Assassins. Its nothing substantial just s small illustrated panel with no dialog.

As far as I know Illyana has no formal sword/martial arts training beyond what she got in the danger room. Talia should take this. 

If I remember correctly, Illyana hasn't received any formal training - her reliance on her magical prowess often being enough to win her battles. Talia has been trained, however briefly that may or may not be, with the League of Assassins. I would give this to Talia, but not by much.

I'll go with Talia, she always seemed like a skilled assassin in my eyes.

Illyana has formal training (with weapons and h2h), she got it from an alternate version of Kitty in Limbo for like 7 years in the wastelands.

Yeah, I forgot about that. I only remembered her receiving magical training.But still, I don't think she matches up to Talia

^ Just checked...this is true. From "Cat"....a cat/ human hybrid version of Kitty.

Then I don't actually know. I'll change to Illyana, because we have a slightly more information on her abilities.

Yup. she learned from physically enchanced alternate version of Kitty who was a sword fighting and hand to hand expert. She had to kill her teacher with her bare hands as a 7 year old girl ( not sure about her exact age though)

Her best showing with pure swordsmanship ( It is her main weapon) is probably the one vs Cap, Thor and Black Knight. She didn't use her magic, mutant, demon form. Talia is pretty skilled herself though...should be a good fight.
