Round 1: H2H Only

Round 2: Standard Gear

They start off 20 feet apart, no prep for either, morals are off.

Round 3: Who is a better girl for Batman?

I tried looking in the search function and I couldn't find this battle, and I tried to make the rounds original so it wouldn't be the exact same. Explain why and use logic and not insults.

Urghhhhhh. I'd say Talia takes the first two rounds and Selina takes the third.

Talia takes 1 and 2 easy.

Round 3 is a bit closer. Much as I love Catwoman, I don't think she's on Batman's level. I think Talia is more on his level intellectually and physically. Except for the whole being an evil (misguided?) terrorist/assassin thing. Still, I'll give it to her. Plus she's his baby mama.

You don't think Selina has any chance in a physical fight?

Talia for all 3. The first two go without saying, but for the third?

Not because I'm her top wiki editor.
Not because she's a far more interesting character.
Not because she's actually flawed in ways that don't annoy the sh*t out of me.
Not because she's mothering Bruce's child.

But because she connects with Bruce on an emotional level more than any other female. It was Talia who convinced Bruce to return to Gotham in No Man's Land.

*Waits for CitizenBane to take the piss* I know you're there, bub.

Selina wins everything, and she's now mothering a clone of Bruce's child after disowning the original and declaring him an open target for every assassin on her payroll.

What clone? Also, as Entropy_aegis pointed out earlier (to my eternal gratitude) that Morrison apologised for and rectified his mistakes in Son of the Demon.

In B&R #12, she was cloning a new Damien because she was disappointed with the original. Son of the Demon is one instance. Since then Talia tried to kill Selina because she was jealous of her, she sent a small army of Man-Bats to capture Bruce (really, would an e-mail have been so hard?), she disowned her son and labelled him a disappointment, and she sent freaking Deathstroke after the kid.

@CitizenBane: By the way, what did you mean by this?

"she's now mothering a clone of Bruce's child after disowning the original and declaring him an open target for every assassin on her payroll."

  1. The Batman & Robin incident, did that come from the volume with Dick as Batman? If so, that was before the rectifying of Morrison's Son of the Demon.
  2. Gah! I already told you! She didn't try to kill Selina in Gotham City Sirens until Zatanna pulled out on their plan to wipe her memory; she actually respects that Bruce shared his identity with Selina. Zatanna accused Talia of being jealous, but she denied it and said that she masterminded that big plot to prove how easy it is to get your hands on Selina and get the information out of her. She was doing it to protect her son (again, this is ignoring that Morrison bollocks).
  3. I hadn't heard of that, but I'm assuming that occurred within the reigns of the Morrison debacle.
  4. Not in line with classic Talia, who defied Ra's al Ghul multiple times in order to get Damian into safety (which was mostly written by Morrison - Resurrection of Ra's al Ghul for instance).

@HBKTimHBK: Come on, you think that Talia would be a better companion for Bruce? Furthermore, what about Bruce? Cat is his lady, she's the love of his life. That's what I get from his actions.

Morrison's SOTD rectification didn't cover Talia's personality, as far as I know, since for over half a decade after the release of Batman & Son, Talia was consistently portrayed the same way, and before that she was a non-factor, popping up very occasionally to serve the story.

Talia lied, she's a liar, Zatanna is more awesome in every way, thus Zatanna was telling the truth and Talia is an obsessive sociopath.

Talia defied Ra's in one story with Damien in it. That's pretty much it.

The Morrison years were some of the best storytelling Batman's ever had, so I'm inclined to believe what he wrote in B&R. It was simply great writing.

Agreed. When did The Lost Days occur? As I recall, she was scolded by Ra's al Ghul for trying to win Bruce's heart again by bringing Jason back to life.

There was no proof that she lied. Don't you start with your ABC logic, bub. Zatanna is cool, but remember, before that GCS arc, Talia had helped train Selina with mental blocks to protect Bruce's identity (can't remember the exact story it was in).

She defied him in more than one. Resurrection of Ra's al Ghul and didn't she help out Dick during his tenure as Batman in order to protect Damian (before she did a 180 and ordered their execution)?

Oh, by all means, as I was saying to Entropy earlier, if it wasn't for Son of the Demon, he would be my favourite writer (Brubaker takes the top spot), but he is by far the best Batman writer. I was mentioning Morrison in Point number 4 because he was responsible for writing Talia as defying Ra's to protect Damian. That's why I think it is retarded - he wrote the stories where Talia became central to a story and he always wrote her in a particular way, so to do an entire 180 and suddenly denounce her motherly love for Damian and her eternal loyalty to Bruce is just ridiculous.

@RainEffect: Considering she masterminded an elaborate plot to have Selina mindwiped while claiming that she wasn't behind it, I'm not giving her much credibility.

Resurrection was the one instance I was talking about. It was during Dick's tenure as Batman that she sent Deathstroke after the two.

Plus Batman and pretty much everyone Damien has encountered, even people like the Titans who have never met Talia, think she's insane. She needs to let it go.

@RainEffect: I also find it a little ironic that Brubaker is your favorite writer. His run on Catwoman with Darwyn Cooke is one of the best things he's ever done.

@CitizenBane: Don't be so harsh on Raineffect, you meanie.Still i could'nt understand what happened in GCS,why would Talia help Selina in mental defenses and then turn on her?makes no sense to me at all.GCS was a very weakly written series, the same writer actually believes that Ra's,Deadshot and Bane need the Riddler to make their plans(YUP).Then there's the fact that it was happening AFTER Batman and Robin #12,i mean why would Talia go to such lengths to secure a place for a son whom she disowned?

Saying that Talia did it cause she's mad is a horrible and lame excuse.

@entropy_aegis: LOL, the only possible explanation is that the overall consensus among DC writers is Selina > Talia.

Sadly it's canon to the majority,i ABSOLUTELY disliked Bane's portrayal here. The only thing this game did was up the pressure on Hardy and Anne, now i have to around listening to morons who keep saying that Hardy ain't tall, buff,or that he does'nt have venom tubes, poor Anne is dismissed as unsexy to be Catwoman.Yeah cause we need her to sound like a phone sexworker.
