I know some people like to post half-assed scans that they claim being evidence of ANY kind of victory. So for instance this being one's evidence of Thor owning superman, or this of Superman owning Thor. In both cases, they were wrong. Thor caught superman by suprise in the first attack, and Superman overwhelmed thor because thor (as usual) underestimated his opponent. Aquaman and thor discuss this as the storyline continues ( here). Superman and Thor even see themselves as their equals, too be seen on two occassions. As for Superman being able to lift Thor's hammer, people say he did this because he is worthy, or simply that he's strong enough. Here is the the truth, Thor gave it to him, knowing he was worthy of the moment. After the battle, we saw superman attempting to lift it again, but failing ( here).
After beating Thor, Superman admits that he may be the single most strongest opponent he ever faced ( here), and look how the avengers treat thor... sort of like the Justice League treat Superman eh? And last but not least, Superman admits beating him barely, it's a 50 / 50 thing.
Hope you now see that these two are evenly matched, and that none of the two could easily beat the other.
As for it being able to be used in battle threads or any other Superman Vs Thor material... Kurt Busiek says yes! Thing's like the Cosmic Egg that was created after the JLA / Avengers crossover still have been used in continuity.
"Superman Vs Thor"... and what Really went down
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Some say sentry was initally made to be Marvel's superman, marvel zombies was also initially ment to be a crossover in which issue a drawer drew superman but they had to recolour it to look like the sentry.
Thanks for making this Void, Superman fans will go crazy after they see thread, thanks again for making it.

100%
I loved the scene after supes defeat him.
Hercules gets so pissed he hits superman so hard his golden adamantium mace cracks!
While I'm sure much work went in to C&Ping this, the JLA/Avengers crossover hasn't been canon in a long time. It's just like the crossover where the brothers fused Marvel and DC, etc. etc. Most of the battles in it were voted on by fans, and those that weren't aren't much more valid. Things that happen and DC and Things that happen in Marvel don't influence each other. Technically, they don't even have the same omniverse. Otherwise MJJ would be a threat to all of DC, and everyone will tell you that it's simply not the case. However, the effort is once again applauded.
I take the Superman/Thor battle with a grain of salt, anyway. It's only canon to DC, and not to Marvel.

So yeah, it has been canon recently.
Anyway, it's pretty safe to say that Superman is stronger than Thor, but the difference is marginal, like the strength difference between Supes and Wonder Woman or Captain Marvel.
So Thor was holding back ? Well gues what Superman always holds back ... Thor is not and will never be anywhere close (especially curent Sups, SA Sups is a stomp) to Superman level.
Thor fans can keep on saying how Thor and Sups are evenly matched but they are not even close.
Strength - Sups by a large margine. He can move the Earth (with GL providing the harness)
Speed - Sups by far.
Durability - Sups can survive a damned Supernova or planets blowing up. Thor is not even close.
fighting skills- Normaly i would go with a Norse God that has thousands of years of battles but how marvels shows Thor fighting i have to give it to Sups. Expesialy with those 1000 years of valhala. Just look at Thor fighting Hulk in h2h over and over again ...
Superman and Zod fighting where shattering the planet with the shockwaves created by there punches.
Superman can vibrate so fast that DD punches go right trough him.
A list of Sups high end feats is just to long.
Superman beats the creap out of Thor anywhere and anytime. Superman can just fly right up (in space he goes abot 17x the speed of ligh) get a sun dip and then 1 shot Thor to pieces.
But you are obviously a Thor hater so i do not see any point in debating.
When has Thor done that or anything remotely close?" @Xan: And Thor could just fry the entire planet with his MAGICAL lighting.
And no one should argue with that because of it.
DC is the company that notably recognized it as canon, but they behold characters of the other company.
" @Xan: And Thor could just fry the entire planet with his MAGICAL lighting. But you are obviously a Thor hater so i do not see any point in debating. "
This guy has to be joking ...
Also i am not a Thor hater i actualy love the caracter. But the fact is Sups is superior to him in mostly everything. You are not going to see me trying to make a case for Sups in a fight with SS. But someone who is close to Hulk in strength, durability and speed has no way to fight Sups.
Did you read what thor and supes said in the Scans i posted? It's been acknowledged, there is no buts and if's. It can go either way.
"Did you read what thor and supes said in the Scans i posted? It's been acknowledged, there is no buts and if's. It can go either way."
I don't care what they said in a crossover i care for there feats and curent Superman would win. Can you post a scan of Thor taking something close to a Supernova ? or moving a planet ? Thor fights on even ground with Hulk, Sups would 1 shoot hulk and he would do the same to Thor if he would give it all his got.
" @Static Shock: He never done it, but he is the god of thunder, so I'm pretty damn sure he can do it globally. "He has, even though it strained him. It was in Thor #6 of his current volume. Someone looked it up for me. So, you were right.
" Did you read what thor and supes said in the Scans i posted? It's been acknowledged, there is no buts and if's. It can go either way. "Not really, the only advantage Thor has is magic, he's outclassed physically and that gives Superman a huge advantage
Supes would defeat Thor at least 7/10 times

Superman saying Thor was the toughest opponent he had ever fought was pure modesty, Superman has tangled with Doomsday, Darkseid, Captain Marvel, Black Adam, Bizzaro, Despero, General Zod, and Mongul are all stronger and tougher then Thor is, 2 of them have superior magic based abilities as well.
