Superman is very powerful, and the icon for doing good, but would he be able to take the penance stare if he somehow  managed to get trapped in it

I think that superman is quite a noble person, but even the most honorable person has done something wrong(big or small) before so i think he would be effected, but i don't know how badly

Everyone's killed someone.  And by someone i mean not just including people.   So if we go by that, and if property damage is a bad thing, the penance stare will send those 70 years crashing all down upon supes.

Based on how Superman is written, he's supposed to be good-natured. The stereotypical superhero with a heart of gold and all that jazz. For someone who's never drew the blood of a innocent, the Penance Stare would have no effect since it only works on those that pery on innocent people....

Not saying the Penance Stare won't work... But it might go something like that.

yeah the stare wont work on supes hes donw some wrong but in his heart hes a noble as they come also I would think regret of sins would help some aginst the stare as its a sign of good

heres the thing superman feels bad about the things he's done or dident do or dident do well enough thats enough to get him on the penance stare.

Penance star wins, each time Supes fights a heavy hitter some buildings get rampaged and destroyed leaving several homeless people for whom he doesn't care.
