I still wouldn't consider that victory Superman had over Darkseid to be completely legit though. Like in that same story Darkseid's beams were shown to be able to phase through matter and for some reason Darkseid didn't do that when they were aiming at him. And when Superman was beating him around, prior to that Darkseid said his omega force was spent and would take time to return to full potency most likely because he was weakened when struck by the beams. I also always felt John Byrne always wrote Darkseid as being more powerful than Superman as well like he depicted Darkseid as having power that rivals the Greek Gods. I know he didn't really beat them and they just fled from Olympus, but they did seem to fear his power.Mr. Director is actually mistaken on some of those points. The "retcon" of the Superman fight actually being Desaad doesn't work, because Desaad was shown to be on Skartaris at the time (Warlord 114 and 115), and was sent there by Darkseid personally in the Legends arc (issue 4 I think). Darkseid is actually less powerful than a lot of people think; many of the claims made about him are either made up, grossly exaggerated, or misinterpreted. So even if it's not PIS, Superman beating DS wouldn't be a very strong argument for him beating Thanos anyway.Superman has beat Darkseid, yes, but it was proven here that they were massive PIS or Desaad in disguise.
As for this fight, I have heard current Thanos was powerful enough to take blasts that were cosmic cube level or something. If he's really that powerful, then current Thanos would win for sure. Prior to being upgraded, I would have said Superman due to his strength and speed and as long as Thanos didn't have prep or anything.
