Proteus is reality warping Metropolis including Lois Lane Superman is angry, pissed off, and bloodlusted.
Superman has full knowledge on Proteus's powers. Proteus doesn't on Superman however.

@Boobster: If he vibrates his molecules fast enough at a certain speed, then yes, he can vibrate and become intangible. And I'm pretty sure he has other intangiblity feats. I'm not big on Superman so I don't know.The only instance of it was when he faced Doomsday Rex. I don't recall any more feats of that kind from him.
Then again, I'm not an expert on Proteus, but isn't he an energy being after all ? How is Superman going to beat that ? Sure he can move fast but he would need to get close enough to Proteus, and I don't think Proteus needs to touch someone in order to possess. Sure, Superman can take some metal and that will prevent him from being possessed, but Proteus can warp the metal just like he did with Maestro's metallic arms.
