Movie versions I assume? Green Lantern movie was better imo.
Superman demonstrated more durability in his film. Then again, we didn't see any combat prowess from Superman in his latest film. For that we would have to reach back to Superman 2 (since there wasn't a reboot for the Superman films the old ones are in) and that was sad.

LMAO!!! Hal's combat was getting better towards the end his his film. Based on the showings I'll say Movie Hal beats Movie Superman.
routh's superman is very fast and had great reflexes, and i thought pretty good control over his powers(stopping glass from falling on people with laser vision, stopping explosion with breath). i'm going to see green lantern this evening but judging from trailers he had an OK grasp of his powers, but he's gonna need a lot more to take on a kryptonian. SM routh > GL reynolds
Routh was thought to go near light speed in "Returns." There's no way Reynolds can compete with that.
What part of the film did that happen? I recall the jet pilots saying he was going mach 3 (or mach 2). I don't recall him ever going much faster than that the rest of the film, and I certainly don't recall him going "near light speed."
Idk, Hal didn't really have many feats in the film, neither did Routh but he displayed better durability and strength. Speed I'm not so sure about since Hal flew to the sun extremely fast.
In a fight Superman sould win as far as the movie goes.........Superman 1 and 2 richard donner cuts were better than the Movie Green Lantern. But Green Lantern was better than Superman original number 2,3,4 and Superman Returns.
If you guys watch the donner cut of Superman 1,2, then Superman returns it makes more sense about the whole kid thing and why they went the route they did. I personally dont think Superman Returns was all that bad just wasnt all that great. Which is why it bombed imo because its Superman ppl are expecting great visuals and good plots ect ect. The movie was 2 focused on Donners versions of Superman. Which is one of my favorite styles of Superman.
But as far as this thread goes.....Green Lantern was a great movie. Didnt surpass the first 2 donner films but it did beat Superman Returns by alot. In a fight Superman would win because Lantern would get burned up by the sun which is a very low showing and Superman can freaking live in the sun. On top of that Superman broke reality and turned back time in the movies, and in Superman returns he freakin lifted up a island of kryptonite lmao. Thats suppose to be his only weakness in the films lol lantern would get crushed.
If it is the movie version than I guess Green Lantern wins but still a tough fight and if it is the normal version than Green Lantern will win by just making Kryptionite radiation which will weaken Superman. Green Lantern wins.
Routh Superman probably wins, mostly because GL in the movie is still a newb. Maybe once he becomes more experienced to the level of comics GL, then he might win.
3. Superman is not a murderer. (Kal Penn's character was killed during the kryptonite island lift to space.)
4. I personally don't think Superman approves of pre-marital intercourse, and if he did, I'm pretty sure he'd use protection.

Routh Superman would Kill Reynolds Green Lantern. He did after all pick up an island and fly it into space while being hit with kryptonite radiation. Reynolds Green Lantern wouldn't have been able to pick up the island in the first place. Which means that in this case Supermans strength beats Green Lanterns will power!

I couldn't agree more with this - at a simple basic level give Superman a villain he can punch without them turning into red paste.
A Superman movie with Doomsday would be freakin' epic if it was done right.
Superman wins. Much better feats. And @departed402 They said he went near lightspeed on the t.v. in daily planet. And he went ftl in the 1st movie to reverse time. Yeah supes wins.
Just like to point out that Reynolds Hal in GL flic flew to OA (center of the universe) and back between lunch and dinner so speed HARDLY an issue.
He also held himself out of the Sun's gravity well WHILE fighting parrallax (so that was only part of his will). Sun's Gravity UP CLOSE > picking up an island (of unknown size, composition).
Not saying he wins, but Routh Superman was crap with NO real feats.

@beatboks Christopher Reeve superman pushed the moon and is in theory 1,000,000 times ftl. (Flying at least 5,000,000 light years is 5 years.) I think Christopher Reeve superman stomps. Brandon Routh superman vs green lantern is a more even fight.
Wow, this is really hard. I would have to go with Supe- Wait... What kind of boots are GL wearing? they look like frog feet... Anyway, I think superman would win, but it would be tough.
Said it before and I will say it again. The guy who can bring anything to the fight and the Lanterns can travel as fast as they like, willpower. would defeat Superman, in battle. yes they could go with Kryptonite, they could just flat over power Superman, but they could also block out the ultra-violet rays from the sun, which would weaken Superman. The Green lanterns are near godlike and the Guardians made them this way so any encounter they come across in space they would at the very least be able to defend themselves until help arrives. in a one on one match in most case not featuring Guy Gardner, the Green lantern regardless of which one shows up is going to be able to handle it's business; VS. whoever...This is just by design, yes they will come across a few beings who will overcome them, but Superman is not one...
Superman , no doubt in my mind, would win...obviously. Superman is almost immortal and doesn't need batteries to charge his power. The only way green lantern would win is with kryptonite. Yea, green lantern is powerful but he is killable. Superman is only killable to kryptonite or natives from his home planet krypton(Ex.General zod or Doomsday).
