Panther rather easily. SL won't be able to tag BP with the gun, and that's his only chance.

If he can take down Cyclops before getting hit with an optic blast, then he can easily take down Quill. And I'm not even considering Panther with upgrades. Just basic BP could do it.

@thanostomp: BP has also taken shots from Namor and managed to hang with bloodlusted Iron Fist for awhile.

He took down a Cyclops that was attacking Hawkeye virtually at the same time. That's not necessarily a real valid feat here to say he can easily take down Quill.

@thanostomp: But it's just being ignorant of context by stating it how you did. If he were to blitz Cyclops before he was able to aim and attack him on the on the first go, then yes, you would be correct. Instead, it happens while Cyclops was focusing on Hawkeye.

Are we using current Star Lord? If so, I'll need to check out my GoTG books again. Best feat I can remember was when he was able to one shot Angela with his element gun (from behind), and she was absolutely mopping the floor with Gamora, Drax, Groot, Rocket Raccoon and Stark (albeit being in some different gear) by herself.

Based on the posts above, I'm inclined to go with BP, unless someone can come up with a feasible counter for Star Lord.

@god_spawn: I get that. What I don't get your underestimation of Cyc? You have an excellent respect thread on him!!!

The panel doesn't give time for reference, its implied. Cyc could, within fractions of a second just shift his gaze to BP. I think your take implies he was holding his gaze on Hawkeye, when all it really would take is a simple, short burst. He's taken on multiple attackers before with relative ease. On your own respect thread you have panels where Cyc hits Thor's hammer out of his hand and takes out Iron Man at the same time, as well as many other ricochet shots, and shots where he takes down multiple targets very quickly(missiles).

Playing down the feat underestimates both Cyc's ability and reaction time, as well as BP's.

@thanostomp: I know what he's fully capable of, so I'm not underplaying anything. Since you brought it up my respect thread, it's clear of that. I'm just saying that there is a context to the feat you ignored. The way I am taking it with how you wrote it out is that Panther attacked Cyclops before he could get a blast off. True, in a matter of speaking that is how it did happen, but how you played it off isn't correct. Cyclops initially attacked Hawkeye and the very next panel Panther is on top of him saying he had to take him out before he could attack again. Given how the panels just jumped from Hawkeye getting attacked to Panther jumping at him, it could very well have been implied that Panther attacked him the moment Cyclops attacked Hawkeye. That's how I interpreted it and I'm not gonna budge on it.

If you want, though, we can just agree to disagree since I think we are solid in our stances of the interpretation. And our argument has been the only one in this thread so far, and it doesn't make much of a difference in who wins or loses, anyway.

And yeah, I originally was just kind of playing Devil's Advocate and arguing for argument's sake :P.

@thanostomp: I would probably go Panther based on that we haven't seen what current Quill can do with prep. Quill does have his flight abilities, armor, and like I said earlier, his element gun one shotted Angela when she was one shotting Groot, and taking on the rest of the GoTG by herself. He used a lightning and I know T'Challa's suit is pretty resistant to a lot of things, but I'm just kind of thinking that there should be more to this debate.

Black Panther

Quill is a leader and a planner and a manipulator, not a fighter. He's not a Batman prep-time sort of guy, his prep time is based on the people he has access to. He can hold his own, sure, but unless he's got a solid team behind him, Panther takes this easy.

Whoa! Star-lord is getting seriously low-balled here. If Star-lord has his element gun then this is a super mega ultra curbstomp of epic proportions for him! lol. His element gun is only limited to Star-Lord's will power. This isn't no-limits fallacy, this is sincerely no limits if he wants. He can send a tidal wave the size of an ocean at Black Panther if he wanted too (he has done this). Obviously this is out of character, but let's be real, it takes a whole lot less then an entire ocean's worth of water to take out even the strongest incarnations of Black Panther. How about fire strong enough to blow up high tech war ships (also done this), a hurricane to kill him(done this), a mountain to crush him(ok, so he hasn't used earth as much ,lol)? This is what Star-Lord is capable of. He wouldn't need half of these things to beat BP though.

Giving Star-Lord a week is a ridiculous amount of prep time. The guy can come up with a master plan on the fly. Also, the moment Black Panther touches Star-Lord, Star-Lord will have complete understanding of Black Panther's tech with his "master of all things mechanical" power. Also, he is currently re-united with Ship, which could solo Black Panther in less then a second. Black Panther does not have a single advantage in this. Black Panther is way out of his league here that it's not even close.

Bump. I'm leaning towards Peter due to his tech and prep..

So we all know Peter would win. His tech is better, I don't think it's current but the personal energy shields will make it virtually impossible to attack him and the memory chip will allow him to know BPs moves after a short while due to the 100% memory retention
