@Kid weather: Vegeta never made SS3, in the second cartoon he was boosted to SS4 using some sort of device. If they were at equal powerlevels, Vegeta would kick Goku into next week just for fun.

@Cosmic_Falcon: I think that is what the OP was referring to. But its hard to know what Vegeta's power levels were since most characters in the game can beat each other up.
@doomsummers: Otherwise it would be a poor game, all the characters are balanced. Some have easier combo's. I also believe dragonball GT is non-canon, and even in the reunion cartoon where Goku was allowed to visit earth for a day, Vegeta was still a SS2. And I actually never figured out why turning yourself into an 80's hairmetal singer makes you more powerfull.
Goku is slightly stronger plus he has had more experience with SSJ3 and how to conserve his energy, Vegeta on the other hand is a rookie so it's likely he would lose more energy quicker
Goku gets the advantage of having more versalite techniques. Instant transmission would prove very useful here, plus, though he's not the most intelligent guy in manga history, he can get quite creative when it comes to battles or becoming stronger (Vegita has even stated him being a genius. Should Goku get very desperate he could still combine Kaioken with his SSJ3 form.
@Maikel: uhhhhmmm... it's because a single lock of a SSJ3 weights more thatn a gazillion tons and carrying it all trains their neck muscles to the extreme! Yeah, that's it! Cause we all know that planet busting neck muscles are very important in every battle scenario. Oh yeah, and a SSJ3's hair is made out a fusion of Chuck Norris's beard and Sephirot's pubic hair, so that adds some extra rounds of win.
