Wha- Why is Percy morals on and Spides is bloodlusted? o_O

#4 Posted by Bluejay3 (217 posts) - - Show Bio

@fatherchaos: Didn't Percy have like Hypersonic Reaction Feats.....And fight a God?

#5 Posted by FatherChaos (1196 posts) - - Show Bio

@bluejay3: Fought a god who didn't show any impressive powers or skills or even just some fancy footwork despite being a god of war. And I don't remember any hypersonic reaction feats, when was that?

Percy FTW

Peter

#8 Posted by Bluejay3 (217 posts) - - Show Bio

@fatherchaos: Well it's just that every time Percy is in a battle people usually bring up his amazing reaction time.

#9 Posted by nojellykid (150 posts) - - Show Bio

Percy Jackson's feats are overrated; all of Percy's fights with gods/titans have him being helped in some way or the god is obviously just going easy on him.

Spiderman on the other hand consistently beats villains, on his own merit. What is Jackson gonna do when he's hit by spider webs?

#10 Posted by FatherChaos (1196 posts) - - Show Bio

@bluejay3: He deflected a bullet later on in the series, although his current speed is significantly degraded.

#11 Posted by nojellykid (150 posts) - - Show Bio

Spider-man obviously wins this.

@bluejay3: Percy does have incredible reaction time, but this is book one!! He's twelve!! Maybe if he had a water source and was blood lusted as well, but he's only got a slim chance then. Also, does Percy even have his sword? If so, then you have to specify that it can work on Spiderman because Riptide doesn't affect mortals.

The reason people bring up Percy's fight with Ares is because it's an impressive display of skill for someone at that age and experience level. Ares didn't put in his all, but it's still an impressive feat. They also bring up his reaction time which is incredible. However, in this scenario he is fighting someone with equal or better reaction feats who is bloodlusted.

If you want to make this more even, make either both with morals on or both bloodlusted. Also(and more importantly) make Percy the current version will all his feats and powers.

@fatherchaos: People under power Percy's feats when they argue against him because it's easy to say he fights people with no feats. They say his feats don't count because we haven't seen any feats for the people he's fighting. B.S. These are the classic mythological gods and creatures. You want feats? Go read the original myths. Sorry to unload on you but I see that argument in every argument against Percy.

Having said all this, in this scenario Spiderman kicks @$$.

@hwkfan296: Haha Thanks for the Honest response, but don't you think that current Percy is to OP for the Web Head.

Percy is allowed access to Luke's sword and a bottle of water if that helps.

#14 Posted by Stormdriven (5511 posts) - - Show Bio

@bluejay3: It still wouldn't be enough, since this is only book one. He has very little experience with his powers, and isn't as proficient a sword fighter as later in the series (although he still did hold his own against the god of war).

@bluejay3: Current Percy's sword fighting is trash, he even said so himself when Golden Boy kicked his Behind. His powers are what have been slowly amped over the series. Up to controlling more than water liquids in House of Hades.

Well he does have that trusty pen-sword but yeah i agree.

Pete.

#19 Posted by nojellykid (150 posts) - - Show Bio

@bluejay3: Your fight is taking place in NYC, the best place for web slinging and the least amount of salt water available. All a bloodlusted Spider man would have to do is hit Percy with a car. The current Percy Jackson may have a better chance, but not by much. Percy may be able to react like Neo from "The Matrix", but Spider Man has more offence than anything percy can take or dish out.

#20 Posted by Stormdriven (5511 posts) - - Show Bio

@nojellykid: Current Percy would do much better than Book One. He would win if they were both in character.

Hmm...I was under the impression that current Percy was almost Superman Tear level, being matched with Aquaman and people of the sorts.

#22 Posted by Funsiized (3726 posts) - - Show Bio

@stormdriven: Yeah against Monsters, he said that was the source of his decay. He hadn't faced a skilled swordsman in a while.

#23 Posted by Stormdriven (5511 posts) - - Show Bio

@funsiized: His powers have become a bit of a crutch for him recently :/

#24 Posted by Stormdriven (5511 posts) - - Show Bio

@bluejay3: He can only match Aquaman with the Curse of Achilles, since Aquaman wouldn't be able to beat him through physical harm Other than that, and outside of the Curse, Percy is turned into paste. But he certainly isn't Superman tier.

I agree that Percy's current sword skills aren't what they could be, but they are not awful. His powers are immense though. Current Percy with morals could cause the sewers to burst and do his water-fists thing. However, Spidey without morals would probably still win. Spidey with morals would be a close battle. Percy and Spidey both bloodlusted with no morals? NYC is destroyed.

@hwkfan296: But couldn't Percy Teleport and have amazing traverse speed and reaction time underwater ?Some one even told me he was near Lightspeed...

#28 Edited by Hwkfan296 (162 posts) - - Show Bio

@bluejay3: He does not have the ability to teleport without assistance. He does have incredible reflexes on land with no water, so much so that he can deflect bullets at point blank range. Any contact with water increases his power. His ability to move underwater is the same as that on land. Under NO circumstances can he travel near light speed. Whoever told you that needs to re-read the books.

I don't know where you got that from, but no. He isn't anywhere near that fast.

@stormdriven: where would you put him on reaction time?Hypersonic,Supersonic would he at least be a bullet timer?

Most likely in that neighborhood. He felt the path of a bullet as he was charging and deflected it in The Titan's Curse

Peter. Greater physical feats.

#34 Posted by Penderor (2810 posts) - - Show Bio

Spider-Man cannot be beaten, everybody knows that.

Percy would lose, in really stomp combat.

#35 Edited by ShootingNova (18662 posts) - - Show Bio

Percy can't compete with Parker in physical combat, and that would be the most pertinent issue, to be honest.

#36 Posted by Jonez120 (4988 posts) - - Show Bio

Percy is losing. Especially in NYC.

You guys do remember that the Curse of Achilles got washed off, right?

#37 Posted by Redskull490 (448 posts) - - Show Bio

Spiderman...

Percy sucks at hand to hand combat.

#38 Posted by Bluejay3 (217 posts) - - Show Bio

How do I make this fair then?

#39 Edited by Hwkfan296 (162 posts) - - Show Bio

Both bloodlusted should be a more even fight. Now I want to point out that while Percy's sword skills against skilled opponents have dropped, he has not lost them nor does that matter to this fight since Spiderman isn't using a sword or other weapon. His skills against lesser skilled opponents or ones with no weapons are not bad. He has a chance.

#40 Posted by Bluejay3 (217 posts) - - Show Bio

@hwkfan296: In terms of H2H I think there about equal.

#41 Posted by Bluejay3 (217 posts) - - Show Bio

Hmm...Now I'm wondering what Annabeth would think of Spidey...

#42 Posted by xXKorvexiusXx707 (32 posts) - - Show Bio

Unless Percy gets some access to water, he is going to get a web around hes lungs.

#43 Posted by Hwkfan296 (162 posts) - - Show Bio

@bluejay3: H2H Percy would get stomped because his training mostly focuses on sword skills. His powers would be the equalizing factor here. Annabeth would destroy Spidey, probably b collapsing a building or something on him.

#44 Posted by nojellykid (150 posts) - - Show Bio

@hwkfan296: compared to Spider-Man, Percy and Annabeth are outclassed in speed, strength, abilities, and tools. Spider-mans webs trump Percy's sword, heck Spidey can just grab a lamppost and beat Percy by having longer distanced weapon. Sword skills mean nothing in this battle. Bring this battle to the sea, take Spider's webs then the battle might be even for Percy. Also Annabeth wouldn't be able to beat Captain America in a fight she doesnt even have real powers. Actually she might have the power to bore Spider-man to death with archaeological facts.

As both a Percy Jackson Fan AND a Spiderman Fan. I would say if It's in the Middle of the City Spiderman would win. First Swordmanship doesn't matter, since it is made of Celestial Bronze, which can only hurt Divine or Monstrous beings, which Spiderman is not. Second in terms of pure physical power, Spider-man obviously is superior- having fighting against beings such as Sandman, Rhino, and survive combat with the HULK! Sure Percy manage to fight gods and titans, but most of them are not at full power or are merely toying with him (Ares was toying with Percy in the Lighting Thief, and really all Percy did was nip his ankle). Percy might be a bullet timer. But Spidey dodges lighting and lasers on a daily bases, and even dodge bullets point-blank range. Percy Jackson doesn't have any superman strength other than what a physical fit human would be. While Spiderman can bench-press Elephants and shatter brick walls. Also using sewer water is not going to be an instant win, as Spiderman actually does have experience fighting water-powered villians such as Hydro-man. Of course if they fight in the middle of the sea, or near a beach it is over for Spiderman, but that is a gimme when your a son of a sea god.
