Spartans are more popular, it's debatable who is "better." Before the Trojan War, Troy's walls were never breached, so they were pretty damn good, however, they were defeated in the 10 year war, which was absolutely epic.
@Mr. Smiths: I don't remember which of Greece's champions were from Sparta, cept ... Menelaus?( Who was pretty cool) but since most of Greece's champions were probably not of Sparta I'm going to go with Trojans.

Trojan Horse does not make them weak they thought it was an offering of peace. With that kind of stupidity its no wonder they died. If America left a giant nuke in the middle of Afghanistan and just left saying "peace offering" what do you think is going to happen? It was stupidity and the reliance on their walls which got them killed.

What about that Braid Pitt film that came about a few years ago about the Trojans? Do not think that film was any good?

LOL I like that. But you have to remember the Achaeans couldn't defeat Troy because Troy's warriors were too good. If Troy had to fight real Spartans, the Spartans would have won.

@Sherlock: I meant to say Achaeans who built the Trojan Horse to trick Troy. The Spartan were elite compared to the regular average joe Greek. They wouldn't need to use such tricks to pull off a win.
@tron_bonne: Spartans are Greek first off.And as everyone seems to forget the athenians (Also greek) also beat out persia in the battle of marathon.BTW the Athenians were all scholars.The other greek city states werent as waring as the spartans were but they were just as lethal in war

If we're talking myths and poetry here, Troy had the unfortunate distinction of not having any heros(as in half-gods) who were any good at fighting (Aneas is the only one I know of and he fled the city) It was however, fabulously large and powerful enough to wage war with most of Greece for nearly 10 years. As we know, it was Sparta that was the first to declare war with Troy after the rape of Helen but they only won with the aid of their allies. One might infer that Paris hatched the plan assuming not only that Aphrodite would support his conquest but that Sparta's military at the time was too much smaller than his to retaliate.

yes he is not he is a Myrmidon, but he was an allied with the Spartans so I think it would make him a Spartan warrior, but still Spartans are the greatest if it comes to Military tactics and tech

The thread is Spartans vs Trojans, not Spartans and allies vs Trojans. I wouldn't really know about their technology and what not.
