@leito: It's certainly debatable whether Cirdan is more wise, but Tolkien wrote that the strongest elf ever was Feanor and only Galadriel was his equal. As for Elrond and Glorfindel, I would place Glorfindel above Elrond, because he slew a Balrog and drove off the nazgul.
I do think that Elrond is, overall, more powerful than Glorfindel (but maybe not in a straight up fight). In Rivendell, Glorfindel is clearly Elrond's inferior, Elrond is of higher lineage (son of Earendil !) and was Gil-Galad's second in command during the War of the Last Alliance whereas Glorfindel is "only" a badass Noldor warrior.
By the way, is it certain that Third Age Glorfindel is the same character as First Age Glorfindel ? It makes more sense if they only share the same name (which is not uncommon in Tolkien's world).
Regarding Galadriel, she definitely is the mightiest elf of the Third Age and the strongest "good guy" (as you say, generally considered equal to Feanor and "superior to him in many ways"), unless you count Tom Bombadil as a good guy.
My Third Age list would probably be :
Galadriel
Elrond
Cirdan
Glorfindel
Celeborn
and then, in no particular order, Thranduil, Erestor...
In a fight, I guess the first 5 could kill Smaug. Gandalf and Saruman too. I believe that even Aragorn, with Anduril, wold have a shot.
Bear in mind that Scatha the Worm, another Dragon from the North, was slain by Fram, an Eotheod, in single combat.
