Well clearly this emperor didn't get the memo because one of his students did exactly that and killed him rather easily.
The only other fight he got in he expected, and it end with him getting his skin fried. His position is one of intelligence, not power. I'm certain several of his students were stronger.

to the Emperor's defence, in that fight he went up against three Jedi (at least two were masters). he also fought Yoda and had him looking like a green jumping been running for his life.
Palpatine is the strongest of the four.
Vader grabbed Palpatine from behind when he(Palpatine) was using force lightning. Vader being mostly machine was being shocked while Palpatine was also shocking himself. because Vader is far stronger PHYSICALLY Palpatine couldnt breake free, even while shooting him full of lightning.
P.S. Palpatine didnt die, he transfered himself into a troopers body.
