Since theyll fight in Sinestro #6, i thought it would be fun to do this now and see what the consensus is and then revisit it after it happens:

New 52

In character

No prep

@new52collector: I'd go with Sinestro. Orion has raw power edge but Sinestro is so creative and versatile he could get a victory on Orion.

Sinestro would stomp. Orion doesn't have many feats and the Lantern history wasn't retconned. And even if it was, Sinestro still outclasses the feats Iron has by a huge margin.

Sinestro stomps due to more and better feats. Orion has limited feats in The New 52.

@new52collector: Sinestro still wins then. He has more and better feats at the end of the day.

He's actually harmed the reality warping First Lantern

No Caption Provided

And he tanked a planet busting explosion without a scratch on him

No Caption Provided

I'd say those feats, amongst others, put him above everyone of Orion's showings.

@lvenger: true, he hurt him. Cant deny that. Though an ant and mosquito bite still hurt me despite not posing a threat to me. The planet busting feat is good enough to probably be better than first borns, but what does a planet busting explosion even mean? Theres no fire in this one. No blast wave. It seems to just break into pieces like when i hold a piece of most dirt. First borns survived for 7,000 years in the planets core and been fine. Orion caused him to bleed. He seemingly stalemated superman too. I think its a close fight.

Sweet. If Sinestro gets hurt by Orion, then I'm gonna use that as justification why Orion has planet buster+ strength.

See, Thor fans? Two can play at that game.

By your own logic in your comment Orion causing him to bleed doesn't mean he's a thread. I can prick my finger and bleed or get a bloody nose and it not be a threat to my life.

Furthermore, I really hate ABC logic like "Orion stalemated Superman" or other characters. Two characters fighting each other are the worst feats in comics, because characters power up and down to fight each other. Captain America fought Spider-Man evenly in Civil War for example - nothing but pure PIS/CIS. We know this because Captain America can't do what Spider-Man can do. Aquaman have routinely fought each other over the years despite the fact that given their showings outside of those fights, there's little logical reason why Black Manta should even be conscious after a punch. There are countless examples.

Until Orion does more things in the New 52 that justify his fight with Superman, I don't really accept it as legit. Just like Ocean Master 1 shotting the entire JLA shouldn't be legit unless he does it again (or something equivalent).

For me personally its about consistency. Do something once? Fluke. Do something twice? Coincidence? Do something 3 (or more times)? Now that's consistency and we have a baseline to go with.

At least that's how I look at it. Sinestro is just constantly on another tier - mostly due to a lack of feats on Orion's part. Its why I'm also against using New 52 Shazam for example, because we have so little to work with there's little to even determine a baseline.

Pre New 52 Orion vs Sinestro would be a very interesting fight indeed. Though in regards to the Lanterns, they can either be grossly underrated or their sheer versatility offers too much of a challenge for fanboys to face.

Orion certainly stands a better chance than Superman or Wonder Woman would but it wouldn't be easy, that's for certain.

I've read feats for both sides to suggest otherwise.

What feats are those?

Mongul's manhandling.

Orions speed + Regen factor and overall strength to punch out Superman.

Ah yes Mongul's fight with Sinestro. But wouldn't all the extra rings Mongul had add significantly to that fight?

Extra rings don't add to power level. That's been stated on panel somewhere before. The power is divided into all the Rings.

Wouldn't the combined might of all the rings have done something to the fight? Not to mention that Hal, Kyle and John have dealt with physical powerhouses like Superman and Wonder Woman before and Sinestro has always matched, if not surpassed the GLs in feats.

The little we have seen from Orion so far I would say he is a powerhouse stalemating Supes, although we can take that with a grain of salt until we can see more of the same, but he has the edge in raw power nonetheless. I side with Sinestro since he has more feats and has been consistent with what he as shown. His creativity with his ring should give him the edge honestly. While I don't agree it is a stomp I am pretty sure Sinestro takes it.

Current Sinestro doesn't even need a ring to leash and use Parallax as his lapdog. Ringless Sinestro solos.

I'm going against the grain and say Orion too. Orion survived a solar system busting explosion dont see Sinestro putting him down unless he gets creative. Parallax Sinestro got slapped around by Highfather who shouldn't be far off from Orion.

@the_kidd: how is it even going against the grain? Orion has already humiliated Hal Jordan, who regularly bitches Sinestro. Superman lvl characters in general make Lanterns their bitches 95% of times they fight.
