How about Thor vs. Hulk - mano a mano? (and no, lightning is not part of Thor's reach despite what he told Hercules)

This is regular Thor vs. regular Hulk, whatever those mean.

This has been done (I'm pretty sure).

I personally side with hulk...A lot of people are gonna disagree. That is if your talking hand to hand.

Didn't they try that in an old Defenders issue? Thor didn't use Mjolnir in order to make the fight more fair.

I think that's a separate fight. They matched strength for an hour during Avengers/Defenders War, but Thor did use Mjolnir earlier in the fight.

@Morpheus_: OK, thanks. I only made this thread to see what it takes to have Hulk conceivably score even 1 win in some people's eyes. I get the feeling I'll have to up it to Worldbreaker.

@Morpheus_: @The_Last_Son_of_Czarnia: I think you guys are talking about thor 385. Thor fought hulk without his hammer.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03BxUKkEVAM

Here is a link to a video that shows the full fight. I think hulk was winning for the most part but hulk pretty well said he was afraid of thor in the end.

@The_Last_Son_of_Czarnia: I never thought that nor did I think the majority did.
Anyway even though I think a god should be able to beat a gamma monster the way Marvel writes it seems Hulk would win in a fight between the two normally.

@Dernman: For the record, Hulk doesn't appeal to me. I just was amazed how on other boards (which shall remain nameless) he's treated as a literal cosmic being, while here he seems to not win anything.

There was an avengers comic in 97" (irrc) when Thor didn't get anywhere with a massive lightning strike and strikes with Mjnolnir. He then said said something like "what Uru could not do alone a god will do with his fists" then got he crap pounded out of him pretty badly. It may have been one of the heroes reborn Arc's though so may not be cannon, not sure if it is or not.

I remember that but it's a separate continuity. Funnily enough Thor couldn't hurt Hulk but Iron Man fought him to a standstill and even dropped him temporarily in one shot. And in Onslaught Reborn, which took place in the Heroes Reborn universe, Thor (while possessed by Onslaught) was about to finish off Hulk, but due to his actions, he was deemed unworthy to lift Mjolnir anymore.

I guess for most people it all comes down to who you like better. The majority of people on that board favor one over the other and same goes for this one.

I personally do not believe liking a character better than another is the "right" reason to say he/she/it wins.

If I say something like, "Sephiroth cause IMO he's cooler" I'm sort of a hypocrite, but at least I admit I got nothin'.

Hulk's possibly treated as the DD of Marvel but due to reasons, Hulk's labeled off as earthbound on the same tier as Magneto. It is possible that Hulk's stronger than this rank but we still haven't seen it yet aside from character hype. Doom believes Hulk's gamma energy is superior to Surfer's cosmic energy. So it's possible that Hulk COULD be the actual DD of Marvel. I'm still unsure due to Hulk's lower showings.

The honest answer is that there isn't one. The feats are always inconclusive and can be used to back up one fighter as much as the other. So truthfully there is no real answer. Just the opinions of people who are inclined to think one way as opposed to the other

Yes, but Hulk was pretty PO'd at Thor in the first fight, not sure how angry he was when he fought Iron Man or Onslaught possessed Thor (They were big on that back then)

I know allot of people don't really like it but I Its my general opinion that Thor can put down the Hulk if he acts hard and fast with a huge attack (which is mostly out of character for him). If not and the Hulk gets to his enraged state is very hard for Thor to even hurt him at that point, weather he uses the winds from a Thousand world or his rage is burning hotter than a thousand suns :)

Moderately angry in the fight with Iron Man, very angry against Thor, if memory serves right. Even though anger is rather subjective to the viewer since there is no exact way to tell just how angry a person is.

Now that you put it that way. However the way I used it to compare Hulk to DD, the most logical answer would be Doomsday of course. Although Darkseid isn't that far behind.

1.Hulk who fought against Onslaught was a pure anger, Jean "released" it on Onslaught.
2.Thor without human soul, wanted to conquer Earth. So Avengers tried to stop him. Thor had OF, but wasn't worthy of Mjolnir anymore. Wolverine cutted his arm off. Strange with Council of Godheads' amulet blocked Thor's OF.
Then Hulk and Thing attacked Thor. This Thor doesn't have Mjolnir nor OF and is without one arm:

Bloodlusted-weakned Thor vs. Hulk and Thing part 1
Bloodlusted-weakned Thor vs. Hulk and Thing part 2
Bloodlusted-weakned Thor vs. Hulk and Thing part 2
3.Thor also fought with Hulk in Hel and almost whole battle he didn't use Mjolnir. He wanted to use it as a finish-blow:

Professor hulk starts at 100 tons and stays at that level until becoming savage banner. Literally any version of hulk could have did that. Just saying you can't compare a fight between hulk and thor based off of professor hulk.

I think I'm most inclined to believe stronger out of the three. Hulk's healing gives him an edge in durability that I haven't really seen in Thor. I've seen attempts to demonstrate Thor's speed fail really show anything but good reflexes, not even great reflexes.

About durability, Hulk never survived in heart of Sun. His fight with Zeus also wasn't too impresive if You compare it to  Thor's with Destroyer, Mangog or Kurse.

Plus if we will count how it looks when each of them stands against Thanos...
Besides, bloodlusted Thor showed what he will do to Hulk without any morals.

Thor's been proven both more durable and less. Stronger, and then not so strong. Feats vary for both. Not cut and dry.

And I tend to think Marvel really wants to promote Hulk as 'the strongest one there is'.

Here, I'll assume both are at their best/strongest/most durable.

This being the case, in the absence of magic and hammer, I still think Thor would eek out a victory. He has some outstanding feats.
