Should Anime/Manga vs Comic threads allowed, and why aren't they?

I just want some peoples opinion because some of the Anime/Manga vs Comic battles would be cool. I just think that they should be allowed.

#2 Posted by Supreme Marvel (10992 posts) - 1 year, 1 month ago - Show Bio

No. Because they cause too much sh!t.

#3 Posted by cattlebattle (11102 posts) - 1 year, 1 month ago - Show Bio

I wasn't around for those glory days...but I think the arguments got a little heated

@Petey_is_Spidey: @Supreme Marvel:

Prime example would be any goku vs superman debate

#5 Posted by Deadcool (6765 posts) - 1 year, 1 month ago - Show Bio

Maybe because at the end it reaches extraordinary levels of fanboyism...

@Supreme Marvel: I know they do but I still think they would be good.

@cattlebattle: Same here dude. I wish was, too.

It causes people to go mad. They tried bringing them back a while ago and it got out of control. Might as well leave them on the 'no-no' list.

Most people just don't know what they're talking about, and it becomes insane.

People said Blade would destroy D, ffs.

#9 Posted by Petey_is_Spidey (1988 posts) - 1 year, 1 month ago - Show Bio

I think the true reason is that most Manga/Anime fans don't know what they're talking about, and either know their character can win, but don't know how to argue, or just say a whole bunch of b******* and either A. don't know what they're talking about, or B. what they're using as a argument is PIS or doesn't count because it might be powerful in Anime, but not in comics.

All of the above are the reason why they shouldn't do that.

That's... Laughable. D is on a completely different level than Blade, it ain't even funny.

I have seen both arguments, but I was persuaded by Static that it shouldn't be allowed and that's my stand on it.

It's hard to compare anime and comics because anime environments are so unique and different, while the comic book multiverses are relatively similar enough for civilized debate.

#19 Posted by sesquipedalophobe (4466 posts) - 1 year, 1 month ago - Show Bio

Including anime in battles just allows toon force, in which case Bugs Bunny solos.

#20 Posted by steelhound56 (1068 posts) - 1 year, 1 month ago - Show Bio

Anime and comic power scales are just far too different to make for good debate topicing.

And most people who debate in anime characters vs. comic characters thread have very poor knowledge of the actual characters, so it descends very quickly into fanboyism and trolling

#21 Posted by BatWatch (2291 posts) - 1 year, 1 month ago - Show Bio

As a comic book fan, I have no interest in anime. I wouldn't have a cow if such battles were allowed on comicvine, but it would create a lot more threads which I simply don't care about, and therefore make the whole site less interesting to me. I'm guessing this is why they don't let you do anime/comic battles.

No, fanboys ruin it as do people without proper knowledge of the myths and lore powering Eastern heroes or people that don't read western ones.

#26 Posted by chaos-soul (1434 posts) - 1 year, 1 month ago - Show Bio

they started huge flame wars and caused a lot of bans lol. to many people were far to biased the mods almost always locked the threads as well. you may be able to find the old threads in here. come to think of it i found this site because i was google-ing goku vs. superman.

Why not just let them fight neutral zones or worlds were neither gain an advantage from ther universe.

#28 Edited by majestic99 (8638 posts) - 1 year, 1 month ago - Show Bio

Because fanboism(what I call believing a certain character will ALWAYS win no matter what, and constantly trolling just to keep a debate going), trolling, flame wars(really just saying mean things when you insult someone's favorite character and that's when SH*T happens)=

The threads will NEVER end.

@inferiorego said:

Definitely agree.

Agreed. This isn't called a DEBATING website for nothing!

@Petey_is_Spidey: No they shouldn't be allowed. In terms of power and speed they are too far mismatched. Dragonball for example. A peak human is Krillin or Tien. In Marvel its Cap America. In DC its Batman. Do you see how lopsided that is? also strength. I have never seen Dragonball bust a planet with a punch or hold up part of a mountain or move a planet out of orbit. I have no idea how physically strong they are. Durability. they can survive being hit into a mountain or a mountain falling on them, but Thing or Colossus can do that. That puts DBZ at 85 ton range at best. How can an 85 tonner survive multiple hits from superman? Dragonball has energy attacks that can destroy planets but others have survived it. So they can survive energy attacks that can destroy planets but their blunt force durability is still unknown. Also besides Goku how fast are they? Mach 4? Faster than light? Too many questions that couldn't be answered.

I dont think they mix very well... So i think the rule is good .

#34 Posted by SupremeHyperion (1106 posts) - 1 year, 1 month ago - Show Bio

go for it....

Give fanboys throughout all genres a chance to tell each other their points of view don't matter.

I'd love to see battles like Ash and his full collection of fully evolved Poke'mon versus the X-men in a blood rage battle taking place inside a giant chocobos belly.

#35 Posted by SupremeHyperion (1106 posts) - 1 year, 1 month ago - Show Bio

How bout each month we take the champions from comicvine and the champions from animevine and we hold a pay-per-view called Vine-Mania or Vine-Slam or Royal-Vine and then we again just call each other stupid and complain horribly when the toons we like don't win. think of the revenue dammit.

#36 Posted by Sherlock (6804 posts) - 1 year, 1 month ago - Show Bio

This isnt a battle and Anime just brings about flame wars.It did before it was illegalized and again when it was relegalized for like 8 hours or something. It is unfortunate though since Manga is just as much comics as the American ones we have on here

It's not just the anime/manga fans - the comic fans are also responsible. A while ago, one of the mods (well former mods) tried to bring back anime vs comic battles for a week and he ended up having to stop after a day and he said that he thought the problem was just anime/manga fans but he found that a lot of it was also comic fans who just said the thread was stupid. So really, both comic and anime/manga fans are to blame for it.

Read the Battle Forum Rules. The reason why they are not allowed is there.

As for this thread, I'm locking it.
