Shang-Chi vs Gorgon

I'm pretty sure it's because of the Evil Mercy that's currently rampaging through the site

I'm a a bit tentative on a single issue changing the minds of those who are convinced that Shang Chi can't hang with A-List characters, although I am very certain that it will change the overall standings for fighters when Shang Chi is more commonly depicted with his more advanced abilities as time goes on.

He could turn out to be a mildly watered down Marvel's version of Karate Kid and I'd be fine with that, he's been played up too often to settle being the butt monkey for everyone else just because he isn't as popular.

@vmole I am of the mind that more feats make for more credibility on the battle boards but the extent of writer influence on a character can be seen by Shang Chi performing feats he hasn't done before.

If Shang-Chi is getting all of these crazy powers, I wouldn't mind putting him against Ryu Hayabusa in a H2H fight.........

I don't think there's much point bringing this up since the issue comes out in less than a week, but in the latest preview with text, Shang admits that he can't beat the Gorgon (albeit in a cryptic way). He also does the pseudo-thunderclap to get rid of the torches so he can fight without relying on his sight and hence being vulnerable to Tomi's stare. As for the fireballs? I have no excuse. I'm almost inclined to believe Tomi is weakened because of whatever ritual was used to transform Madripoor into a dragon toupee.

Also, I must ask, what issue did that scan of Spider-Man using himself as a slingshot against Wolverine come from?
