She trained him and in the recent Uncanny story, she had trouble getting in his mind but eventually she did. But if someone less skilled than her tried, just look at the pics above. They would be kissing pavement or table.
Well even though Grodd has been all 'Grah Smash!' Cannibal in recent years, He's one of DC's most powerful psionics/Telepaths. Not as powerful as Martian Manhunter, but equal too or perhaps even a little better than Hector Hammond. The problem with Grodd both his Mental and Physical abilities are all over the place in different showings so it's really hard to gauge them. Despite everyone thinking Emma is the stronger Telepath, I kinda think people were voting for her cleavage more than anything else. Don't get me wrong she's obscenely powerful, but I think Grodd's feats of mass mind control, and body switching and other TP feats match up pretty well with hers.
That said, if Shaw gets himself sufficiently 'Amped up' before the fight and he has training to resist mental intrution I think this is a very good fight. Grodd's strength is all the hell over the place. and his Telekinesis comes and goes it seems. But he is still a super genius (if a savage one) and his Durability feats are pretty consistent and he's often shown taking absurb amounts of abuse and shaking it off and still fighting. Given the conditions smart money is probably on Shaw, but I think there's a small chance that Grodd could take everything Shaw could dish out to where he 'overloads' and from there Grodd whups him.
I think Grodd should be able to win here via his TP. In uncanny Shaw spent most of his time staying close to Emma, forcing her into her diamond form as much as he could to prevent her from using TP. Once she had a sufficient opening, she quickly over came him with TP. IIRC, she initially experienced difficulty in getting into his mind due to his rage.
@Edgeworth_11: Almost Hector Hammond level is Grodd's telekinesis. Fun Fact: I made my Black Ops Clan GR0D just because he is so awesome, and who kick someone like Shaw's ass.
