Excellent question, and let me explain why I believe Abbadon will have an upper hand in this engagement. 2 words: Pit Lord.
Although both of these angels are associated with the angel of death, and each is extremely powerful, Abbadon has been considered the "Angel of the Bottomless Pit" in the popular lore. Also described by the demons that he tortured over the millennia as "The Destroyer", and eventually meeting his end at the hands of the demon Belial. He would still win this battle; his torture whip makes good use of the Balrog technique in The Lord of the Rings: Two Towers, while also giving range to his environment. Samael may be a stronger angel, but his sword and shield technique and quick combat moves don't measure up to the space created in the bowels of Hell.
Also, this would be a victory by knockout. We can't give Abbadon enough credit for his at-home victory, but he is truly no match for Samael. Samael, who would later go on to kill both angels and demons, some of whom were stronger than Belial.
