I think the question is can she only absorb powers or physical attributes. Since Thing is made of rocks, would she absorb them or their "power" (and not look like a female version of the thing) or nothing?

He has rock-like skin, but he himself is not made of rock and he's not rock through and through. She's absorbed him before, don't know how she looked.

Rogue can absorb the Things power.

In the past she has absorbed Colossus's power and nightcrawlers at the same time.

She resembled an amalgam of both.

Although she can absorb his powers, the Thing would still be a better fighter.

However Rogue could win this battle by draining the Thing dry like she did with Ms Marvel.

He would revert to human and she would have the win.

THING also ROGUE it would absorb the power of

Are we going with current Rogue? she isn't invulnerable anymore is she? if she isn't the Thing could knock her out verily easy. with her strength an invulnerability she can withstand his onslaught and hold on to him and absorb his essence knocking him out as she did in FF v.s X-men when the FF refused to save Kitty.

i think it takes more than a poke, when she did it in FF v.s X-men it was a several panel kiss, i am sure surprise helped to keep the Thing still enough [and maybe some enjoyment you dirty Blue eyed thing you]but her strength back then would have helped her stay linked to him. With her current powers her strength and such are much more average making her easier to put own. The Thing is a very competent fighter an they have fought so he knows her powers an would be wary of them. If she can get close and stay alive long enough to be in contact with him then she can win bu failing that he has it, i don't think Sunfires powers [thats her current ability isn't it?] will do much to him. She can fly right? well that would help, but if she did grab him from above she would be at risk as she isn't invulnerable [the Thing is so strong that slight uncontrolled movements could easily be fatal for someone with a human level of resistance]and if she did lift him he could thrash all he wanted to break free because a fall isn't gonna really do diddly to him.
