R2: Reed, if all he knows is that his enemy shares an ability similar to his, he could think of the statement broadly, thus prepare for someone on his level of intelligence as a high risk possibility, and thus bring some big guns for a squirt like Luffy.

If all reed knows is that luffy is rubber, he has no idea how FAST he can move, luffy will likely one shot him before reed can even react in round 2.

I wouldn't put it past Reed to already have a plan to take himself out if he were to go rogue for whatever reason.
