RED ROBIN (Standard bo-staff, throwing discs, grappling gun)

VS

THE ZAPATA BROTHERS   (Gus: RPG w/ 1 shot, 9mm pistol. Rigo: 9mm pistol, smoke grenades)

LOCATION

Mexico, unpopulated. All cars are parked in the streets.  Nightfall.

RULES

-They begin at opposite entrances of the circle.
-The Zapatas brothers know the area, Red Robin does not.
-The Zapatas brothers have been hired to kill Red Robin.
-Red Robin thinks they just robbed a bank (eh, it's an excuse to beat them up).
-Elimination by all standard methods.

The Zapatas Brothers have very limited showings, so hopefully this will help:

And as you can see, they're okay with killing:

They also appeared in Deadpool Team-up 898... But let's be honest, I'm not going to buy Deadpool Team-Up :X

All your battles involve one character I know well about while the other participant I know nill.  I'm guessing Tim doesn't have the infrared lens in the mask.  I'm leaning towards Tim winning, but two against one and the Zapata brothers seem to have a good team balance going on will definitely give Tim some problems.

Thanks.  I enjoy learning about new characters and attempting to introduce them to the vine. Some have caught on, many have failed haha.  Assume Tim's armor is solely for protection, no extra features.

Nah, assume neither side needs it.  There seems to be a good amount of artificial lighting in the region.

@k4tzm4n:  Okay I'll give Tim the win.  He's taken on groups of two before, and without infrared, I don't see teh Zapata Brothers having an edge in terms of using their smoke bombs.  The RPG could be a problem, but nothing I don't think Tim could avoid with a well timed jump.

Honestly, I only gave them the weapons as a means of distraction, since Tim also has projectiles.  I don't think they'll hit him at all, but it's something to keep him occupied.

By the way, if anyone has read Deadpool Team-Up 898, I'd love to know what happens with them.

Checkin out the scans, I feel that if Tim is able to take out their weapons like the guy did above (have no idea who it is), I think he could take it.  Also, from the scans I felt like if Tim decided to go h2h, the bros would decide to go h2h also, which I feel Tim could take it because of his training, but I don't know how good the bro's fighting feats are. Sooo Tim ftw

Yeah, I think Tim would most likely win unless they somehow get him with the shock factor.

Well, I'm sure furthering their education wouldn't hurt them :P

Honestly, I just wanted to put these guys in a fight to introduce them to the vine.

I never in my life thought I'd see a Zapata Bros. thread. Two of my favorite fresh characters that were recently introduced, quite honestly.

They also appear in Deadpool Team-Up, they're not so much villains as they are mercs. If I remember correctly they wind up helping Moon Knight by the end of the arc.

Indeed, they helped Moon Knight and saved the crime lord's daughter.  Did you read Deadpool Team-Up with them? I'd love to know what happened.

Basically Deadpool was hired to graverob a head as were the Zapata Bros. They encounter each other at the grave site and they mollywhop Deadpool with their shovel before Deadpool knows what happens and they bury him. Then they meet up with the guys that hired them at a strip joint where they try to renegotiate their rate and try to figure out who really hired them to do this job which ends with the Zapata brothers putting a beating to the dudes and them giving up the name of their boss. Deadpool encounters them outside the strip club and hits one of them with the shovel and it turns out they're Deadpool fanboys so they pretty much geek and tell Deadpool they didn't recognize him back at the cemetery. It ends with them teaming up and getting Deadpool inside of the boss's home in a casket and Deadpool basically killing everyone while the Zapata Bros provided back-up.

It was written by Benson and drawn by Barberi, so it was a pretty decent issue, but I wish there were more showings for the Zapata Bros., the only real decent thing they did was to their employers.

Other than smacking Deadpool with a shovel and firing a bazooka they didn't do much else.

Written by Benson? I've been a huge fan of his work.  I'll have to check out the issue.  It's a shame I quickly dismissed it because it was simply "Deadpool Team-Up" :(

I usually do the same, but it has a rotating roster of talent so I at least take a quick gander at it. Benson and Barberi's work on Suicide Kings was decent, and I enjoyed Benson's "Down South" arc on Moon Knight and the introduction of the Zapata Bros. so I was pretty much sold from the get go. All in all there are actually decent issues of DTU...though there are some really bad ones, as well, but that goes without saying.

This is a tough and cool battle, I personally don't know who would win. But maybe, if they could get Tim with that RPG (which doesn't have to be directly pointed at him) they could take out the Robin.
