Might be reaching into the dark here, but since Reapers are prime examples of Death, wouldn't that trump any Demon? or just anything living thing in general?
well, in supernatural, demons had captured the reapers that were supposed to be taking care of a town and held them captive, later sacrificing them in a ritual. It does vary wildly. In just Buffy, for instance, there are as many demons as there are episodes and they are all at differing levels of power.
I mean just in general which could/should be more powerful? A reaper made by Death to do his bidding(which is to reap souls). Or Demons evil beings from hell created by Satan I guess. In supernatural Reapers are supposed to be able to kill on touch, but yet one demon captured and almost killed a reaper, but that was one of the most powerful demons and he still required a spell to trap her, and the scythe of Death. Another really powerful demon could also Possess a reaper, guess it was just for a limited time tho, and that reaper might not have been a more powerful one.
@ComocYahweh: Problem with this is that when you cast your net so wide as to include every demon and every reaper from everywhere, you will end up thousands of candidates which ultimately gets boiled down to the most powerful individuals, take Marvel/DC the most powerful 'reaper' will be the embodiments of Death from each which is only a single character to each company, while the most powerful demons will be monstrous entities that can reshape reality on a whim and on a massive scale when they aren't just termed all-powerful, like Cyttorak.
Reality warping, soul sucking, hellfire empowering superbeings that inspires fear at the mere thought of their name? Then the demons are more powerful.
Cold inevitability, causing the knowledge that there is nothing you can do to escape it, sooner or later, you will die, and be within their power? Then the Reapers are more powerful.
OK, if you are asking which we think should be more powerful, rather than which are shown to be more powerful in particular fiction, reapers should be more powerful, but i'm not sure they would have any agenda. They are just there to escort life to death. They wouldn't be out to kill anything, really. They just do the "killing" when the time comes.
