Depends in what way you mean "smarter". Ra's Al Ghul is wiser. Riddler is the better detective.

Not sure if Ra's could or couldn't, as I don't recall seeing him tackle that sort of challenge.

I prefer Ra's as a villain.

but ra's al ghul lived 700 hundred years don't you think he'll have more knowledge in his age than riddler's 30 something years of age?

Riddler is smarter and better detective, Ra's is wiser and can solve his riddles. Ra's is also the better villian.

@allaithalsaleh: You'd think so, but he's also gotten his ass kicked with a sword by everyone from Batman to Nightwing. Again, he's one of my favorite villains, but if it took him hundreds of years to get to the level he's at now, he must've been really damn dumb and a terrible sword-fighter.

@allaithalsaleh: No problem, man. That's what the forum is for. Riddler's usually used to present a challenge to Batman mentally, while Ra's is considered to challenge him in every respect from mentally, physically, etc.

Riddler is smarter/better detective. It would be really hard to solve his riddles, but he possibly could sometime. I like them both, but Ra's a little more.

I think Riddler is smarter and would win a chess game. Ra's is wiser and could possibly solve a riddle of his. I like Riddler more as a character.

Considering the fact that who's cooler or a better villain don't apply to a battle in the slightest....Ras could stomp Nigma in most every category. Therefore, anyone has a reason to tease this thread.

I don't know why but I think ra's al ghul is much more smarter than the riddler.

I pretty much agree with this entirely. Riddler is far and away my favorite Batman villain. He seems to be difficult for most writers to write though. Snyder isn't doing bad with Zero Year thus far however.

I find Ra's to be the more interesting villain.

Okay, I'll go down the list. Edward is smarter. Ra's is wiser. Edward is the better detective. In a game of chess, toughie, maybe Ra's, possibly Nigma. Five year battle, Edward. Who's cooler and who's a better villain are subjective -- my vote goes to Riddler.

Riddler is cooler

Riddler is smarter and a better detective, but Ra's is a better strategist and has more resources.

Ra's wins any battle between the two.

wasn't Ra's who taught Batman every thing he knows including his detective skills and bats is the best detective in DC which would indicate that Ra's Al Ghul is a Better Detective.

I think he got a lot of detective skills from some French guy.

Henri Ducard. Said he trained him in man hunting. So I was wrong about him training him as a detective.

Ra's is wiser and would probably win in a 5 years prep battle and solve his riddles imo.

I give the rest to Riddler.

Bat's detective skills didn't work out well on this guy.
