Samurai Jack was one of my favorite shows back in the day. I am not at all a fan of Raiden, but I still feel he outclasses Jack.

Raiden should win due to having superior durability, greater physical strength and as well as a larger arsenal in regards to his versatility but Jack`s sword should be able to pierce or at least stand up to Raiden`s armor.

Jack, the crazy things he did in the show. fighting a man to a standstill for 3 days without rest, easily dodging bullets (machine gun fire from multiple enemies), surviving atmospheric reentry without a suit on, drops a glass of water at waist height, kills 10 bounty hunters and picks it up before it even reaches near the ground, can jump over 200 feet in the air, master stealth (used his clothes to blend into the sunlight so a ninja couldn't see him ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x08YYmPmtVI&feature=related), trained in many fighting skills by many cultures, is skilled in many weapons and can easily learn new ones to the point of a specialist in that weapon, pretty strong (lifting a 500 ton simo wrestler off him in a gladiator fight) lol. dude jack wins. cartoon power ftw

Raiden has/can do all that too.

Jack still wins. Everything thing that is Raiden (armor, super strength, weaponry, etc..) can pretty much be found in the world that Jack lives in. If he can defeat foes with similar stats then he should have no difficulty in defeating Raiden.

That's a baseless argument, not a single cyborg in Jack's world bears any similarities to Raiden. I can say the exact same thing, that Raiden has killed dozens of samurai and ninja.

Hmm, the armor of Raiden will help. H2H might be comparable, am leaning Raiden here.

The biggest factor are their weapons, Jack's blade is the only weapon that can harm Aku, if they clash blades Raiden's HF Blade will shatter and he will be defenseless.

Jack's blade could cut through Raiden's armor, and he's probably faster than him. But Raiden also has better strength.

May I ask how strong, physically, is this Raiden fellow?

IIRC Jack's blade is enchanted against evil, Aku specifically. It won't shatter Raiden's H/F Blade, which has its own durability and cutting capacity.

That's a pretty shallow argument anyway IMO.

Jacks blade is capable of cutting through anything in his universe as well IIRC. Not sure if it has cut through a blade that can cut things on a molecular level though.

@jashro44: Well the Scotsman was able to fight Jack with his own blade, but his sword was enchanted by magic runes. I remember there was an instance where Jack couldn't damage robots but this was before he gained his strength enchantment

Yeah pretty much. The scotsman blade absorbs magic and his blade was upgraded after his fights with the ultrabots IIRC. Its been a while since I have seen the show though.

I remember the water drop feat, should put him well above Raiden's speed. Don't recall the atmosphere drop though?

Jack wins, I've played all the metal gear solid games and ive never been impressed with the characters. rising made raiden a badass but i didnt see anything that jack cant replicate or even do better, cept for lifting ray. ive seen some pretty good strength feats in jack though and i remember the scot can throw tanks but nothing the size of a metal gear ray. still giving it to jack though

Wrong....even though it was specifically made to destroy Aku, it's never stopped him from killing normal individuals, including a few good people when he was corrupted by Aku for a time. He's broken blades before, and not only regular weapons but objects of mystical origin like the gauntlets and helm of Cronos. He's been able to cut through the toughest substance in his universe which was amped by dark magic, of course he needed some assistance, but Jack was able to do this without the help of a robotic arm and completely obliterated the last indestructible Ultra Bot with a quick prayer. Jack's blade was able to cut and harm a giant robotic monster than King Leonidas's own sword shattered against. The same monster was killed when the sword was thrown through its head and came out the other end. Chances are Jack's blade will shatter Raiden's due to the fact that it is indestructible by any and all means, able to cut through anything that isn't indestructible or magical (the scottsmans rune claymore, the ultrabots, the guardian's weapons). Also Raiden's blade was shattered by Steven Armtrong like it was a twig.....doesn't say much about it's own durability.

Raiden loses due to having insignificant durability feats, lesser physical strength, and a smaller arsenal in regards to versitility but jacks sword should be able to completely obliderate Raidens armor with absolute ease should it make contact. Jack dropped from earth's atmosphere in an incinerated space suit and walked away completely unscathed, he got his face slammed on the side of a mountain and was going so fast down it that sparks were coming off but he was unharmed...skin on mountain makes sparks... Jack while in the Dome of Doom Arena faced Sumoto, a gigantic sumo who weighted exactly 700 tons, this sumo jumped several yards in the air despite its weight and body slammed Jack who was completely unharmed by 700 TONS landing on him (plus added momentum from the height). Jack tickled him and rolled him off (strength feat) then tickled him to death. Jack was at the ground zero of an explosion that leveled an entire fortress, by the time the smoke cleared he was on his feet. Raiden more durable? LOL no. Jack while training in the forest with the tribe of albino apes led by a man, had to carry large rocks on his arms, legs, and back (sometimes the apes jumped on his back to add more weight, I counted 13) and run, jump, do pushups, swing on vines, do acrobatics and climb vines with them on for days (unless you want to debate that he did it in hours). Afterwards, he was able to simulate levitation by gently lifting himself off the ground and floating, at full force he could jump at incredible speeds to the tops of canopies and leap to Aku's head (Aku is the size of a tall tree at the least). Jack has punched holes in aku's robots, ripping them to shreds with his bare hands, kicked a giant robot and destroyed it, took down a whole battalion of multi-armed assassin robots with a bamboo sword. Versatility .... really? Jack has been trained in nearly every form of combat known to man during his original time period and learned more in the future.....Raiden has nothing on Jack.

tough one, they're close in terms of strength and durability, speed goes to jack, raiden is more skilled, id give it to jack 6/10.

I would actually give it to Raiden, here. Especially if he went into Jack the Ripper mindset. I've seen a lot of the outlandish feats in which Samurai Jack's done, but Metal Gear Solid 4 and Metal Gear Rising both gave Raiden some pretty incredible feats. Raiden was made to be a futuristic living weapon, with a blade that causes more damage than simply slicing flesh. Raiden also has incredible stealth skills, as well as his speed when in blade mode. I'm sure an argument could be made for Sam. Jack, but so far my vote goes to Jack the Ripper.

Jack breaks Raiden's swords and decapitates the foe. Armor won't help in this battle. Also, magic>science.

Why wouldn't it be able to?

Jack's sword isn't just enchanted to fight evil, it's indestructible and can slice through anything when it has the strength behind the blows.

He is. That water drop feat is something Solid Snake can replicate, let alone Raiden.

He slices cars a dozen times in a second. He jumps from the ground into the air, rips out cyborg spines, and absorbs their power before the bodies can land.

One could claim that it's gameplay. You could... however, the Doktor explicitly makes reference to his abilities during the training mode, which is in-universe. During a cinematic, he explains Raiden's ability to absorb the energy from cyborgs. So it's not gameplay - it's story.

Why did everyone go over this without debating? Can this Raiden guy counter any of this and how with specific feats please.

Don't just say "Yeah, Raiden can do all that" if he actually can't.

@sirneko: Almost every argument made by @ancient_0f_days is completely ridiculous, the "Jack's sword cuts Raiden's sword in half" argument in particular considering:

1. Jack has never done anything even close to that before, and he's fought more than enough swordsman to say he would if he could.
2. Raiden's own blade separates the particle bonds of whatever it lacerates and separates the very atoms of it's target by slicing through molecules, so it has it's own sharpness to keep in mind to the point that Raiden can make anime-style ranged slices and cut objects longer than the sword itself. It's also durable enough to clash against Samuel's Murumasa Sword, one of, if not THE greatest swords on the planet that split a Metal Gear RAY straight in half without touching it.

His regards to Raiden's stats being "lesser" are also simply insane. For one thing, neither of their durabilities matter since they can't stand up to the other's blade, so I don't see why he's making such a big deal about only Raiden's armor. He's acting as if Jack can stand there and tank Raiden's slashes. No, that's absurd. Secondly, Samurai Jack is barely a 100 tonner. His only feat worth mentioning is carrying the boulders when he learned how the high jump but again, two things about that:

1. Jack only exercised his legs. The point was to develop jumping skills after all.
2. That is nothing compared to Raiden pitching 505 ton Metal Gear RAY like a baseball, supplexxing 17,000 ton EXCELSUS, and stopping 200,000 ton Outer Haven in it's tracks with one arm in an inferior body for at least 1 minute.

None of his other feats matter. A 700 ton sumo is horribly insignificant, and Jack couldn't even move him anyway so I don't see the point in mentioning the scene. And you act as if destroying robots means something to Raiden.

Speed isn't even a contest. Jack's feats are comparable to Solid Snake. That water drop scene is something peak humans do.

And Samurai Jack isn't more skilled than Raiden either. People pretend the guy learned "every martial art in the world"; I don't know where they got that from, Samurai Jack's entire system was based on wu shu techniques.

Raiden created his own style, one that even incorporates going back and forth between his hands and feet to gain as much leverage as possible on the opponent. He singlehandedly held off a whole bunch of FROGs with his mouth. He beat Jetstream Sam, a man with very similar training to Jack, he killed Solidus Snake, his own mentor and CIA paramilitary/expert samurai, he defeated Vamp, muscle reading knife wizard, I can go on.

Meanwhile Samurai Jack fights robots.

Jack fights a shape shifting master of darkness and his minions but Raiden fought Vamp, Solidus and Sam. Oh wait, nope forgot....Robots.
