Ōnoki is shown to have a high level of stamina despite his advanced age, still able to hold his own on the battlefield after fighting for an extended period of time. His endurance is similarly high; despite his old age, with him surviving, despite getting heavily injured, being in epicentre of Madara's giant meteorite, a feat made more impressive by the fact that it obliterated a large portion of the surrounding area and killed numerous other shinobi and by the fact he took the attack head on. Ōnoki is proficient in multiple elements; Earth, Wind, Fire, Lightning, and Yang Release. In addition, Ōnoki possesses the ability to use the kekkei tōta, allowing him to use the last three elements to perform an advanced element known as Dust Release. Ōnoki's Dust Release ninjutsu allow him to pulverise his enemies to molecular-sized dust. Ōnoki's skill with Earth Release ninjutsu is particularly powerful. He can create multiple rock clones for assistance in battle. He is capable of instantly creating massive Rock Golems for assisting with defence or offence, even if only a limb. Ōnoki has also demonstrated earth techniques that involve the manipulation of the weight of objects. By simply being in the vicinity of his target, he can increase the weight of objects- restricting their movements – or decrease the weight – making it possible to lift even the Island Turtle.

Hiruzen Sarutobi

Said to be the strongest Hokage that Konoha has ever had. Even in his old age, he was also said to be the strongest of all the five Kage at the time of his death. During his lifetime Hiruzen had accumulated a vast knowledge of ninjutsu. due to his mastery of all forms of shinobi combat, his own personal arsenal of original and ingenious techniques, as well as having mastered thousands of techniques in general. Out of his various specialties, Hiruzen was highly skilled in the use of shuriken based techniques, one of which was the Shuriken Shadow Clone Technique. With this technique, he could create a thousand clones of a single thrown shuriken in an instant to overwhelm the opponent. He could also use the technique with the larger version of shuriken, increasing the technique's range and penetration power. Hiruzen was highly skilled in elemental ninjutsu, being one of the few people capable of wielding all five basic nature transformations, as well as Yin and Yang Release, a feat thought impossible for normal shinobi. He was able to use all five elements simultaneously, via himself and four shadow clones.

Hiruzen. He has the versatility and wide range if knowledge to defeat onoki despite the latter's advantage.

Hiruzen is stronger, more versatile and was stated to be the most powerful of the Kage during his second reign (which included Onoki). That all being said, he has no real answer for Dust Release. Maybe if he had feats like summoning a Rashmon Gate or something, but he doesn't.

First off. The creator of Naruto, Hashimoto, retconned Hiruzen. Pre-Shippuden he was the "God of Shinobi", but after Shippuden that title was given to Hashirama. Reasons being is that the more powerful, past hokage's were being introduced in Shippuden and a hierarchy was being set. Hashimoto himself said he was just writing as he went along and hadn't planned everything through from the beginning. Besides that, Hiruzen has no feats, he has no kekkai genkai, he has no dojutstu(eye jutsu like sharingan etc), and no specialized abilities. None, not even one. Not to mention Hiruzen is incredibly weak physically. He couldn't even stop Orochimaru, while Onoki stopped a METEOR from SPACE that Madara hurled toward Earth.

And for the people saying, "Oh it was because he was old". No. Onoki is actually OLDER than Hiruzen, and he was able to destroy a dozen of Madara's Susanoo clones during the War Arc with particle style kekkai genkai, almost kill Sasuke with EMS were it not for Obito, and more . What did Hiruzen do? Nothing. Objectively, feat wise, Hiruzen is the weakest hokage(Yes Kakashi in his absolute prime has full Susanoo and Kamui, which far outclasses anything Hiruzen ever did) and one of the weakest Kage's of all the nations in the Naruto series.

In lore, Hiruzen was already confirmed to be the strongest Kage of his time which would clearly put him above Onoki.

@poisononousvenom: Who ever thought Hiruzen was the God of Shinobi ? looool even as a teen, when i first picked up Naruto, and saw the 1st's jutsu, i knew he and the 2nd were possible that ...even so ...that's not why Hirizuen wins ...Hiruzen was stated to be able to use over 1000 jutsu's and illusions, he also was stated to be the strongest of the 5 kages from prime till death ...Kishimoto never retconned that ....Hell even when Saru came back, he made mention of Oonoki ..so he has knowledge of even his jutsu ...

I'll take Hiruzen over Ooonoki any day, Hype vs feats ...we don't know what Hiruzen would do vs those Madra's, he even has knowldge of Madara and training from the 2 who matched up with Madara for years ...not only that ...but be real ...if Orochimaru's imperfect Edo's came to the battlefield you really think Oononki and the other 4 could stop Prime Orocahimaru and 2 Hokages who were weaker but still stronger than any leaf ninja in that village ? loool Hell NO !!
