So why is it that in every incarnation of the character(comics, movies and animated series)is Superman portrayed as the strongest and the most dangerous member of the JLA? Why do the writers put so much emphasis on his power? They clearly intend for him to be the stronger than characters such as MM

Not all writers do that, some do, some don't. For example in Pre52 when Amazo fought JLA he calculated The Flash to be the biggest threat in JLA.

Also obviously everyone's solo books make them look more powerful than others. In New 52 MMH #2 he TPd the enitre JL.

@gxrevolution96: Superman is portrayed as the strongest because to the general public he is. His character is defined by his flight and strength. But this portrayal isn't the same in comics, what actually matters here. Jonn has beaten Clark several times, and has even soloed the JLA. Superman himself said he would be afraid to fight Jonn if he had to and that he was more powerful than him. You can argue Superman is stronger and more durable, but that won't stop Jonn from crapping all over his mind with his telepathy. Add to that his Superman level physical stats, phasing, and complete control of his molecular structure, he wins pretty easily over Clark

Because martian is not a flagship character like superman. He was shown to be taking on entire jla solo in new 52, Just recent issue he tp'd superman, flash, wonder woman, cyborg at once and left to try and kill himself.

No, i got it, I just decided to correct you. For your "joke" to be funny J'onn would have had to be the last survivor. Just saying.

@truth_teller: you must forgot about when Jon first appeared he was the sole survivor just like superman but then obviously more kryptonian so and Martians appeared in comics so it was correct to begin with FYI
