@thundergodswrath: Reasons? I just got in to comics about 2 months ago, so I would like to learn the capabilities of the modern heroes.

Oh, my bad, I just saw him slug New 52 Supes a few times and I thought he might be able t keep Thor at range, I'll have to read more comics I guess.

@worlds_only_dc_fan: Thor would destroy his constructs without much trouble, and can tank anything thrown at him. A hammer throw to the face should put Half down. Pre-Flaspoint Half would have been a better choice, but even he would lose eventually.

Yeah, Thor is pretty powerful in comics at the moment. Having said that he has plenty of options and plenty of speed, so I don't agree that Thor "obliterates". I say Thor wins but after a good battle.

How about Hal gets a blue ring that doubles his power? Would he be able to keep up then?

@bezza: Based off of feats they are not. That's like me saying Classic Thor equals modern Thor.

Hal has not shown any combat speed over Thor. Travel speed isn't going to help when your opponent can fly multiple times faster than light. Yes, Thor obliterates.

Thor wins. But I wish DC would portray the Lanterns as being more powerful than Kryptonians and such...at least the experienced ones anyway.

I hate how the constructs go down so easily to Superman's punches. On paper, guys like Hal or Sinestro should beat Kal-El or any of the other bricks.

I've heard that Green Lanterns are the same as Pre-Flashpoint so Hal should be a whole lot stronger.

Well, judging by your forum name, you're not really impartial, and as for New 52 not having any feats, he has a few.

I'm not saying he beats Thor, but even in New 52 guise, Hal has shown enough resourcefulness/tricks to at least make Thor work for it...and yeah, Thor can fly at light speed, but his combat speed showings are often variable...

Just to say, Geoff Johns has stated that GL continuity has not been retconned in the New 52, so New 52 Hal is the same as Pre 52, and all feats apply. Because of that, he has a chance. I still believe Thor wins.

@bezza: Ah don't judge me by name, it's irrelevant. I know when Thor loses and this is not a moment. Half hurting New 52 Superman is impressive, but Thor is more durable than New Dupes. Killing a no-name lantern is not impressive though. We do not know how powerful he was. As for speed, Hal doesn't have anything to say Thor can't tag him. He constantly tags fast beings, just because a scan does not say something like " Thor reacted at nanosecond speed to block the Sentry's attack" doesn't mean he's slow. I think this is something people need to understand.

@sog7dc: Who Krona? Wasnt that before New 52?

no im pretty certain it was in the "wrath of the first lantern" arc....i could be wrong though....if it was in the new 52, though, all im saying is that Hal is no pushover and presents a major challenge to Thor. This is why i made that thread a while back about lanterns gettng so little respect.

i was wrong. that was pre-52. but were the GLs even retconned like everyone else? i mean it seems like they were JUST retconned with the end of "Lights Out"

Being able to destroy a construct doesn't = win. Its like saying drawing blood from someone means you'll automatically win. I'm not saying Hal'll win, but at least give it some thought without adhering to the usual "The character I like curbstomps". CIN.

Drawing Blood from Superman seems to be ridiculously easy in New 52. Batman did it on Venom.

And what happened after GL Drew Blood on Superman? Superman easily shattered all his constructs.

Well yes...of course it was. Otherwise Batman would have been pulverized instantly by Bane's hits. But there's nothing showing that GL making Clark bleed is any different. Clark casually smashes through GL's Constructs. Wonder Woman Casually smashes them as well. New 52 GL constructs are weak. Too weak to honestly make Superman bleed.

Nah, this is insane PIS:

That's just New 52 Superman terrible habit of biting his lip every time someone punches him.

Comics have a penchant for making 'hero vs hero' fights not entirely as one-sided as they should be, especially in situations with a massive power-gap. Venom realistically shouldn't give Batman punches that will hurt Superman, just like Wolverine shouldn't be tanking Thor's lightning - but it happens on panel.

So you know it was PIS yet still cited it. First off, Supes smashed through a Hal's shields while he was rookie. Superman went through years of honing his skills/powers. Hal had only briefly gotten his ring. The WW instant makes sense, cus she's f***ing WW who's pissed, and I fail to see how she did it casually. CIN.

It's not the same as drawing blood from someone lol. If you can destroy your enemies main weapon and if it can't hurt you, you curbstomp him.

Thor can either crush Hal constructs or absorb everything Hal throws at him. How is Hal going to even give Thor a fight if he can do nothing without constructs?

How? Everything Hal throws at him Thor can shatter and crush, without unlimited energy Thor just absorbs his energy and then pimp slap him. Now I expect that you will tell me it's out of character for Thor to absorb energy, but he's doing it whenever he's facing enemy with energy projection and manipulation. He will quickly figure out that those are Hal's only powers and he will drain him.
