This is a fight between me and Decoy, Decoy will be using Neji and I will be using Gaara (Pre shippudden) 
We start 30 feet from each other,  visible.

Right then, the only reason Gaara's so hard to take down is because of his sand shield. It's darn near impossible to get through and it can be used offensively as well. That said, getting through it is not impossible. Rock Lee was able to do so due to his insane speed, and when you consider that most of Neji's training was just beating the living crap out of Lee, then you can realize two things. 1. Neji has the speed to counter Gaara's attacks 2. Neji may possess the speed to actually tag Gaara. Now the main difference between Lee and Neji is that Neji only really needs to get one good hit in and then he can disrupt Gaara's chakra flow, thus weakening Gaara so that he can get more hits in which weaken Gaara even more and so on. 
 
Neji does this until after a tough battle he takes Gaara down.

Yeah, I agree. I think Gaara near the end of Pre-Shippuden wore that attire anyway. "

 I'll start this off. Neji is not faster than Rock lee or Sasuke, so I will have no hard time defending your attacks. 
I will have no trouble manuevering through the location, since Gaara could just use his sand and float around you. That's all for now. "

In case you didn’t know, this site was made for comics. It would follow that the majority of fights should be comic related. This isn’t to say that only comic fights are allowed and all others will be locked, but keep in mind what most of us are here for. Also, keep silly battles to a minimum - Aunt May vs. Odin is fun once in a while, but gets tiring if overused.

Neji could disrupt Gaara's chakra if he can get to him and hit Gaara before the sand could protect him. And even if he could, part of Gaara's chakra is from the Bijuu called, Shukkakuu which protects him. Disrupting his chakra won't disable the automated defense system.

Neji might be the worse possible Naruto fighter to throw down against Gaara: a close-combat specialist against a guy with auto-shields and long distance attacks. Rock Lee and Sasuke are not good examples to defend Neji: the former was a physical beast unparalleled into his class (and who had to resort to destroying his own body for a chance at victory) and the latter could only copy his speed for a short while. We've seen that Neji's combat system cannot stop the tailed beasts from infusing their hosts with chakra (Neji-Naruto fight). We've seen that Gaara can adapt to fighters who break through the auto-shields, even when he doesn't see it coming. What chance does Neji have to win this one?

Even with that limitation, what advantages does Neji have that could possibly give him victory? "
