Honestly youd probably have to be a top tier like Superman, Hulk, Sentry, Gladiator, Black Adam or Sazzam or Namor to beat him on pure Pysical force and som of those might lose. No under tier w/o a special ranged attack will not win.

It wouldn't require prep time. Midnighter isn't gonna keep beating on Madrox if he continues to duplicate. It wouldn't take him long to figure out that physical force won't work.
Midnighter has fought about a million aliens at once. I think Madrox would be worn out long before he reached that amount. Midnighter on the other hand wouldn't get tired and he wouldn't even necessarily be making more dupes each time. I'm not sure if cutting a head off or impaling a heart would always pop out a copy because he's been shot to death a couple times without making copies. Punches and explosions work, but not all kinds of damage. Also, Midnighter could just rush him at the start of the fight and snap his neck before he gets started.
this is an interesting fight i mean i would imagine midnighter would have to take him down early because at a point the numbers would have too be a problem
