I think if Reed can take Wolverine's claws and not get scratched (Enemy of the State), then Sandman isn't going to be able to do it. Then again, Reed's ability to take punishment over the years has been inconsistant, to say the least. He can take bullets easy, but a punch by Spider-man makes him bleed.
Without prep Sandman wins. Based simply on physical attributes of each character, Sandman's body is composed of granular sand that is even too fine for Reed's limits of elasticity. Reed shouldn't be able to hurt him or contain him before Sandman could potentially invade his nose and throat, and take down Reed from the inside out.
Would Reed be able to expand his lungs so that he wouldn't have to breathe for an extended amount of time? That may keep Sandman from getting into Reed's insides...
