Pre Crisis Mongul used to be a almost Darkseid Level threat, but outside of his amazing strength  (he was actually a bit stronger than SA Superman if my memory serves me correctly, though I could be mis-remembering)  and durability and intelligence/tactical acumen, most of his other abilities came from all the tech he had access to on Warworld.  I'll admit I'm not as familiar with the character since Crisis, but I think with Rings that'd give him the fire power he needs to be able to handle Onslaught,  Should be a good fight thought as Onslaught is a lot more versatile.
