Round 1: On LV-426 in the structure: a squad of MI vs the amount of aliens shown fighting the marines in the movie.
Round 2: On Klendathu open ground: 500 MI vs 1,000 Xenos
@misterwhisper: hmmm...why do you think that?
Scenario 1: closed spaces, lots of ambush points, darkness, and outnumbered.
Scenario 2: only outnumbered 2 to 1, open terrain, and full auto.
If the Mobile Infantry can keep the Xenomorphs at range with their Moritas, then they win both rounds. The MI have access to under-barrel shotguns and grenade launchers, like the Colonial Marines, but they also use heavier weapons. Mininukes were depicted as seeing use both in open ground and against tunnels - in fact, at the end of the movie, the warheads from the mini-nukes were revealed to be able to be used as hand grenades - not to mention that the standard grenades were shown as very effective. They're a very valid option for the MI in any environment - the Morita sniper rifle would all but ensure victory in the second round as well. The end of the movie also showed the debut of the rifle that would become standard issue by Starship Troopers 3 - the Morita Mark 3, with an extremely powerful and accurate underbarrel grenade launcher.
The MI also have access to a variety of weapons and equipment from the three sequels - 2, 3, and Invasion.
In Starship Troopers 2, the Morita SAW was shown in use, alongside prototype Energy Rifles of debatable canon. The Morita SAW is most definitely canon, however, as it features in 3 and Invasion - that level of fully automatic firepower would tear apart the Xenomorphs in close quarters.
If anyone's seen Starship Troopers Invasion, they'd know that if the MI have access to their upgraded, original Starship Troopers Novel inspired equipment, they're absolutely going to win.
Complete victory to the MI.
Xenos for round 1.
MI for round 2.
Both rounds are about 8 or even 9/10
