Martian Manhunter vs. Etrigan

I know J'Onn won in the cartoon, but would he win in the comics?

Stipulations: If and only if Hellfire proves to be too much for J'Onn, then consider it disabled for thread purposes. Thanks.

MM should win. I don't think Etrigan has ever shown immunity to telepathy.

@TheBatman586: A VERY good point. I've read all of Grant's run and can't recall an instance off the top of my head. I suppose I should get around to reading my big Kirby reprint book sometime soon.

I believe martian manhunter wins. If I'm not mistaken he has over come his weakness to fire and as mentioned he is a telepath.

I'll give it Martian Manhunter, because of TP, I don't think Etrigan has any resistance to it. Although perhaps Hellfire could pose a problem.

Anyone can survive Hellfire. It burns the soul, not the body. It did as much damage to Sam Donaldson as it did to Superman.

That said, it hurts like hell.

I believe Martian Manhunter has gotten over his Fear of Fire... So even if Hellfire is More Potent in Attack... it should not matter what kind of fire it is as long as MM goes Intangible to avoid it.

Two of my favorite characters, great back stories and both super powerful top tier herald level. But J'onn wins this any number of ways if he's really trying.

Etrigan by way of hell fire or magic. Martian Manhunter could win by using telepathy but that is not his go to move so he will lose here.

@yarva: No, Hellfire won't do shit to MMH. And magic isn't effective either.

J'onn overcame his weakness to biological fire. The issue here is that I'm pretty sure Etrigan's fire is magic based, which begs the question if J'onn could also tolerate or stand up to magic fire in the same capacity as normal fire.

Someone show me Martian Manhunter doing anything more than a simple mind probe on a magical being. I've never seen it.

Additionally, hellfire can still hurt him. He isn't immune to fire he just isn't afraid of it.

Yes it would. There is no reason to think otherwise. And of course magic would be effective. Anti magic magic spray isn't one of MMH's powers.
