Does Captain Atom have telepathic resistance? Because if not, then he's screwed.

Yeah, against mind control. At the same time, J'onn has been KO'ed easily by Quantum radiation. Once by Breach, and Atom himself did the same thing against an alternate version of J'onn. If he decided to go intangible, Atom would still be able to blast him by varying the frequencies of his blasts.

Well if that's all, the Martian could create illusions, shut off his mind, or any number of different things. If the Martian didn't have his telepathy, this could be a good fight, but with it, Cap isn't going to do so well.

In a lot of battles, telepathy really isn't J'onn's first line of offense. He normally tries to go physical first, before attempting to use his telepathy. The battle can go either way, even if J'onn had his telepathy on deck.

That also weighs in, but this battle has been done before anyway. I've made the same argument in three threads of the same name.

The only reason for that is because he believes his telepathic abilities can be intrusive (which I can respect), but he's not afraid to use them when the situation calls for it. And in a fight with someone as powerful as Captain Atom, I think he'd be willing to use them.

Not that the very beginning. He didn't use them immediately against Breach (who has the same exact powers as Atom), and look what happened after J'onn blasted him. Also, J'onn did relatively well against Prime (who is more powerful than Atom) in a physical fight, and didn't need his telepathy at the time. Then there's Ultraman, whom he went physical against, and didn't use his telepathy immediately. Just saying, in most battles, he doesn't use it right of the bat.

Well, you're right, he doesn't usually attack someone telepathically right away. But considering Atom's power set, he may need to use his telepathy. You're right that he was able to fight SBP physically, but, as you're well aware, Atom has a lot more at his disposal than brute strength. Given his energy output and speed, he may be able to keep the Martian at a distance. That is, unless Cap wants to make sure he fights him physically, so that he keeps the Martian doesn't resort to using his telepathy.

Well........there was a 4 part Martian Manhunter mini in 1988 where Atom said J'onn could telepathically black out the minds of the assembled Leaguers, presumably including himself:

No Caption Provided

Though given that this is from 1988 Atom has probably had several instances of TP resistance in the 23 years since then. He could feel Voodoo rummaging around in his head.

@CitizenBane: Atom has had one where telepathy had no effect on him. It mind control from a very insignificant character.

Their weakness lies in eachother. Martian Manhunter is weak to heat/fire which is one of The basic powers of CA (manipulating energy). Martian Manhunter is a cosmic level telepath which makes him omega level powerful and gives him The advantage of easily breaking throw powerful telepathic defences with ease. I would say that the one that acts first is done for.

Manhunter wins. Better, more versatile powers and most of them are a hard counter to whatever Captain Atom can throw at him
