Name some of the "numerous" occasions, as well as the quality of the telepaths involved, as J'onn is a telepath of the highest order.
What Mar-Vell brings to the table is not sufficient to even touch the Manhunter. His physical dominance as well as his ability to simultaneously utilize multiple abilities would enable him to overwhelm Mar-Vell rather easily.
No idea who thought Captain Marvel vs Mar-Vell would be a good battle, but using uninformed opinions as reasoning as to how Mar-Vell could compete here is not a plausible argument.

I believe Mar-Vell could counter J'onn's intangibility, by using a specific frequency in his energy blasts, as he did against the Vision, but honestly, I haven't seen him produce effects with his blasts that would enable him to injure the Manhunter to a degree where he would be threatened by him. Also, he would need to blast him for that to work, first.
@Static Shock: Telepaths from Mutants for one. Mar Vell can turn himself into pure light,there for becoming intangible.I remember that two people who are intangible can touch each other,so the the Tangible problem is resolved.Any thing else?

It was only fire and the weakness has been nerfed. It has to be emotional fires, like the kind an arsonist makes.

Forms as in: Mind reading, mind control, mental probes, mind wiping, telepathic illusions, induce amnesia, mental paralysis, mental detection, mental alteration, psychic inhibition (cuts off someone's ability to use their powers), etc.
Resisting one form (mind reading) doesn't mean you can resist other forms (because they all have different effects on the mind). When has Mar-vell resisted a mind wipe from Professor X?
