I say man of steel superman b hands down! Though my friend says Avengers Thor no contest.

We've already determined that he mops the floor with the entire Avengers lineup. I don't see Thor winning by himself...at all...ever...maybe in his dreams...
@k4tzm4n: you saw the movie? oh wait, nvr mind, just saw your written review lol.
Comic Thor can beat Superman, but movie Thor is severely nerfed and would get beaten by movie Superman.

@nerx: C'mon dude, let's not use that type of terminology. It's not necessary at all.

But not even a little funny ?
I wouldn't say locked. If Thor gets some significant feats in his next movie which comes out very soon then we may have to revisit this thread.
Ewww... Just checked my info. Thor 2 is November 8. don't know why I was thinking it was a July release. Any ways I do agree with you guys on superman. Just had to get it officially clarified for my friendly debate against my buddy.
My question is why does Marvel let their character's be so weak on the big screen compared to DC's Superman. Is it because,
1) Society pressure other companies to not allow any super powerful character to rival Superman?
2) DISNY is too lame of a company and focuses their budget on cheap fart jokes instead of having Thor lift buildings or bust a mountain with a fist?
Whatever the answer is, I don't like it.

What the devil are you talking about? No one in Thor's solo movie was remotely a challenge for him - he was decimating the Frost Giants and their home effortlessly and proceeded to one shot the Destroyer as soon as his powers returned. If anything he's still sporting the better striking power feat by a large margin - but to say he's being depicted as 'weak' when he's in all likelihood the second most powerful being in the Marvel Cinematic universe thus far is ridiculous.
Movie Thor was nothing special. Yes he was strong in the early battle scenes in "Thor" and yes he one shotted the destroyer, but in the Avengers Movie he seemed rather de-powered. He couldn't defeat Iron Man in their little forest battle and was getting wooped by the Hulk before a fighter jet saved him. He also got stabbed by Loki using what looked to be a normal knife. I haven't seen Man of Steel yet, but already know that Superman wins this easily!
Dont underestimate thor. He shattered a huge chunk of land in his first movie. He one shotted the destroyer and he killed the giant monster in the blink of an eye. He isn't as fast as supes but he does show insane speed. He felm from the sky and was completely fine. He hasn't even been scratched in his movies. I dont think supes could put him down. He would bash him around though
