Superman, all the way...

I say Mags. Because Coldcast has put Supes down and Mags has comparalbe to greater level power than he.

#4 Posted by Methos (40103 posts) - - Show Bio

i'm thinking but i seriously can't think of a scenario where Magneto could take down Superman

Superman also beat him (and the rest of his team) in return.

so how would magneto beat him?

But he beat him. If he lost later oh well. He Beat Him.

So that erases Superman beating him when he stopped fooling around? Coldcast tried to actually kill him but got taken out faster than he could even think. If Superman lost earlier, oh well. He Beat Him.

Except Coldcast used his manipulation of Electromagnectic force to slow Supes atomic structure rendering him vulnerable and incapacitated. Well within Mags capabilities with the EMfield. Just because no one in the past had the vision to do this doesn't mean it is not do-able.

Gambler:p

and by the time that he's activated his powers and Superman feels the slightest hint of pain Superman would have decapitated him with heat vision and stretched his skin around the world

Yes He beat him. down for the 10 count.

EMradiation is light and lo and behold travels at lightspeed heatvision is within that field and within influence of the one controlling that field. I think he could get to Supes before his skin is stretched around the world. BUt hey Supes defies physics all the time in ways his powers don't really explain. I guess he's the winner based on that.

also i don't think Magneto has that fine control over the small magnetic forces of the universe... i could be wrong though...

has it ever been shown in comics?

M

#17 Posted by Sling Shot (3560 posts) - - Show Bio

A modicum of times. Theoretically Mags has what it takes to KO the man of Steel.

#18 Posted by Methos (40103 posts) - - Show Bio

i've never seen him do anything like that...

if he has that fine control over magnetism then he is the most powerful character in the marvel universe

M

#19 Posted by Sling Shot (3560 posts) - - Show Bio

If he has that level of control he is A powerful character but no where near the most powerful. But I know you meant that statement as hyperbole.

#20 Posted by Methos (40103 posts) - - Show Bio

Sling Shot says:

not really...

anyone with control over the small magnetic forces of the universe that fine, could separate electrons from atoms causing nuclear fusion.

they could also bend light and take someone apart at a atomic level, killing anyone, even silver surfer, instantly.

And what is the Power Cosmic if not capable of just that. Which Galactus has in buckets.

#22 Posted by Methos (40103 posts) - - Show Bio

which is what is making me think that Magneto isn't that powerful

M

#23 Posted by Sling Shot (3560 posts) - - Show Bio

That is not the totality of the Power Cosmic but a corner of it's vast influence. A corner that Magneto happens to inhabit.

#24 Posted by Methos (40103 posts) - - Show Bio

so magneto is as strong as Silver Surfer?

nah, i can't see that...

can you show me issues where he has shown this amount of power and control?

M

#25 Posted by Sling Shot (3560 posts) - - Show Bio

You said he is as strong as SS? I said Mags can manip the EMfield on even a planetary level. I also said SS is capable of this and more because of the Power Cosmic.I brought up SS because you compared specific EM control to the Power Cosmic. I agreed it is within the gauge of the PC but is not it in totality. And Mags has used his EM manip to fortify his own physical form against attack. Yes atomically.

but you stated that he has control of the weak magnetic forces that hold atoms together... that makes him very, very powerful.

maybe we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one

M

Sling Shot says:

"I stated through the EM field he can manipulate atomic bonds. That does not fulfill the very rigorous requirements of control. He has some influence, most likely through concentration and great exertion, he can effect things through the same avenue Coldcast did.I guess we will just disagree, but I want my point to be clearly communicated."

ok... i think i misunderstood...

he has mild control over things this fine... but it takes a lot of effort?

Most likely. Or it could take a change of perspective. I don't know I just beleive it to be within the realm of his ability.

#30 Posted by Methos (40103 posts) - - Show Bio

i'll to look into it more... i've never seen him use anything that powerful, or fine...

Magneto wins
