Magneto vs. Thor

Wow. Either magneto is way more powerful than I thought and has been a victim of plot, or this is cwazy. I would never have thought magneto would go against superman or Thor.

magneto he has beaten a whole avengers team that had thor on it and he has fought x-men and the avengers together and they only beat him because of exhaustion.

I think Magneto wins this. He has already fought the Avengers by himself before. And he has better showings against Thor in their fights. Thor under normal circumstances is getting his hammer taken away from him. Then he gets either BFR'd or KO'd. Magneto just has too much control over Thor for him to win this.

remember that magneto is immune to lightning.

@jay_z94: Well Thor had already shown to use Mjolnir to drains Mags shields so they'll be a non factor . Also Mags tried to stop Thor & Thor resisted the weight of a neutron star so putting metal on him will have no effect . Malakieth turned Thor's insides into glass & Thor still fought with no problem so the whole blood thing really won't be a factor . There's too many ways Thor can stop magneto but there aren't really any ways Mags can hurt Thor .

How can Magneto possibly control lightning better than the god of thunder? He's not even Omega tier

Thor, but not with ease like some fanboys are saying.

The fight will go something along the lines of Magneto stopping Mjolnir with his powers and winning the fight but Thor will go and do something heroic like punch him or go into warrior's madness etc.

It won't be easy for Thor though, Magneto is mad powerful.

Magneto would need serious prep to hold his own against Thor. Pitting two of my favorite characters of all time against eachother is rather cruel to be honest. However I do not believe there is much that Magneto can do to actually hurt Thor. Thor would likely be immune to any electro-magnetic blasts from magneto, strong enough to destory or take any thing hurled at him. I am leaving this one up to the writers, because as a believer in mutant superiority and supporter of Magneto's dream, I cannot vote against him.

Ok w/o PIS Thor is not hitting or throwing Mjlonir at Magneto successfully...And can easily be disarmed by magneto....

Once Disarmed Thor can't fly,summon lighting, or any other of his godly abilities...

This leaves Thor to only use his strength durability to plow through whatever Magneto is throwing at him..

It's Honestly a Stalemate or Win for magneto depending on location. unless someone can prove Thor can lift his hammer under Magneto's magnetism

secondly.... thor's godly powers or weather powers doesn't come from mjolnir.

as the son of the elder god.. earth goddess ghea, thor possesses earth control.. through which he can manipulate gravity and such.... here he increases gravity and puts together a falling apart moon.

even thor says that mjolnir just a tool... his godly powers doesn't depend on it.. and then summons lightning in the fight.

or a lightning which hurt mikaboshi (a being which absorbed 98% of the multiverse)

or a godblast capable of tearing apart celestial armor? (an armor which can survive universe destruction.)

what if thor just shrinks him down with matter manipulation?

magneto is a good character and all.... but i don't think he's quite on thor's level of power..... thor will stomp this fight even without mjolnir you know...

Magneto has never taken a blast from Galactus nor has he been able to take any attacks from a cosmically powered Phoenix Force Jean Grey. In the Galactus instance, Xavier combined his psi powers with Magneto's latent TP abilities and used their collective psi to try and communicate with Galactus. They barely registered as a tingle on the outter consciousness of Galactus. Annoyed, Galactus casually threw their psionic energy back at them. Magneto's force-field deflected the psionic energy of himself and Xavier's that Galactus deflected back at them. That's all. He did not deflect a blast from Galactus.

Regarding Magneto vs. Phoenix Force Jean Grey, in that story, Phoenix's powers were scaled down to only rival Xavier's. She was not written at the cosmic powerhouse levels she was at when she battled Firelord in an earlier story. When she fought Firelord, her attacks were backed by the power of stars. When she fought Magneto, her powers were scaled down to rival Xavier's and Magneto barely beat her by tapping into the Earth's EM field for his power. Had she been written at the power levels she was at when she fought Firelord, she would have CREAMED Magneto as she would have been tapping into stars for her powerbase which would have dwarfed the geomagnetic fields which serve as Magneto's power base.

Thor easily beats Magneto in this fight unless PIS is involved to weakened Thor in a desperate attempt to prop up Magneto. Thor's hammer has the ability to absorb Magneto's powers including Magneto's force-field. Magneto is actually very defenseless in this fight against Thor.

Magneto could liquefy Thor's Mjlonir/hammer or manipulate the iron in his blood. Plus lighting wouldn't do much against Magneto since according to Einstein's special relativity, Magnetism cannot exist without electricity and electricity cannot exist without magnetism.

Magnetos is more powerful in his younger incarnation. Thor fought the elderly version in the above scenes. Young magneto is class 100. And magneto is smarter than thor.

Thor fought the elderly magneto in the journey into mystery issue. Young magneto would give thor a very serious challenge.

If there is any Adamantium around then I honestly see Magneto decimating Thor quickly. Without it though I don't think Magneto could do much, maybe he could microwave Thor's brain or put metal pieces to Thor's eyes.

Not necessarily, Thor can absorb/control magnetism too. Really, Thor has so many powers it's not even funny. Thor simply needs to counter Mageneto's magnetism enough to simply hit him. Unless Thor is seriously downplayed, this should be easy for him. At least if he has Mjolnir. It can absorb energy like magnetism on a global level at least without Thor even touching it.

Thor has been able to use magnetism since the 60's.

Just saying, Mag can win this with one simple thing.

If Thor's hammer has even a small piece of metal, Magneto can manipulate and keep Thor from using it.

Hint hint, Thor's armor, powers, and "immortality" comes from his hammer.

Even if Thor doesn't go human form, his armor is steel and metal... Magneto can control him like he does Wolverine..

Also if I recall correctly, due to Odin's everlasting enchantment, whoever holds Thor's hammer, can gain control over the sky and use Thor's "powers".

Magneto. Thor has never gotten past his shields. Magneto can control Mjolnir. He can control Thor's body. He can shut down Thor's brain. Magneto wins 9/10

Eriks Magnetic shield can withstand nuclear missiles, so Thors attacks would perhaps get him tired after some time, but before that happens he have already shut his brain down like he did to Bishop in Age of apocalypse.
