Those things feed of electricity and are made out of some high powered radiation. Magneto controls these things. Magneto stomps the whole race of alien orbs.
Like I said, the aliens feed off electricity and everything about their being is nothing that Magneto hasn't faced before. He would easily detect them and destroy them.

The aliens are invisible because they are made out of high frequency waves. These waves conduct an electromagnetic bubble just like Magneto and when it touches you, you disintegrate and the alien feeds off of the bio-electric field of the person's body.
Oh, and The Darkness is not what these things are... Their two movies, and this movie is from The Darkest Hour.
