Luke Cage gets to train for two years with Bruce Wayne. He gains strength to lift 50 tons. Thor isn't allowed to use any powers. Thor drops to 45 tons and isn't allowed to use his Mjolnir. Fight takes place on an Island. If Luke loses, his child and wife are killed. If Thor loses, Asgard is destroyed. So you can imagine how bad they need to win this. Who wins and why?

Depowered 45 tons Thor vs Powered Up 50 tons Luke Cage plus bat-training...

Seruously, If you wanted to make a battle to make Thor to lose then you did it, Luke wins due Invulnerability and super strength superior to Thor, also bat-training.

They are pretty much same in strength now and combat. Thor still wins.

Being stronger, and with vastly improved skills Luke might have a chance.

But Thor would probably kick his ass anyway.

This battle is different but I like it. : )

I'll give it to Thor. Even though Luke has received bat training and a strength upgrade. Thor still has many, many, many years of experience in battles.

Thor wins.

Two years traing with a man who has spent most of his life training in martial arts does not =  millions of years of live combat experience.

There is barely a difference in their strength so it all comes down to skill. Considering Thor has thousands upon thousands of years of experience, he should be able to win this, but he's never demonstrated as much.

Luke Cage has been running with Iron Cage for years and still has no discernable fighting skills, two years of training with Bruce and he still loses. Thor has been shown to be pretty skilled while depowered, he has more martial ability than Cage.

This really isn't thor vs luke cage...Its more like a 45 tonner vs a 50 tonner and I would say the 50 tonner wins in a tough fight.

I rarely see thor use his skills and when I do, it always involves a weapon. His experience involves him having powers and versatility not really hand to hand skill to my knowledge. Also experience doesn't really matter once you get to a certain point (in comics any ways), for example batman defeats ras al ghual despite a huge experience gap.

I know. Those kind of things sadden me. Thor, Hercules, and Ares all should be some of the best fighters ever known in the Universe. But guess what? They aren't lol. Should I give thor an Adamantium hammer?

Adamantium hammer would be to much of an advantage for thor.

Thor actually has some fighting skill feats! Credits to KMC!!

Here, Thor defends himself against a gang of trained swordsmen, from Thor #492:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Thor%20Stats/ThorSkill05492.jpg

Because Thor is so powerful, it's rare that his pure skill is focused upon as the key to victory. However, on this point, it's appropriate to show how he does when completely stripped of his godly powers and forced to rely solely on this thousands of years worth of experience and skill. In this scene, Thor, on the verge of death and bereft of all his godly power, defends himself against a horde of undead automatons, from Thor #491:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Thor%20Stats/ThorSkill01491.jpg

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Thor%20Stats/ThorSkill04.jpg

It's pretty standard for any hero to defend themselves against commonly armed thugs and Thor himself as a complete mortal has such a showing, from Thor #495:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Thor%20Stats/ThorSkill06495.jpg

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Thor%20Stats/ThorSkill08.jpg

Here, surrounded by Zodiac's henchmen with Captain America down, a mortal Thor handles himself and Cap's shield with varying degrees of success, from Thor #496:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Thor%20Stats/ThorSkill09496.jpg

Historically, Thor was one of the most outstanding swordsmen in Asgard. Here, he hands Sif a most embarrassing defeat, from Thor: Son of Asgard#7:

As opposed to Cage, who has no combat feats and only an imagined amount of fighting skill.

You are asking for combat feats from characters who do not have any regular series, or very much screen time to speak of.

Thor wins. Cage's fighting skills still wouldn't be of any significant amount to hold a candle against Thor's. To automatically assume how a fifty tonner would use fighting methods that they've never portrayed before is simply that of speculation. Thor has actual fighting ability that he's depicted when powerless.

Thor could always go into warriors madness... Since He's fighting for the existence of asgard he might. Then he would squish.

I assume Thor's durability is equally powered down OP? If not, Thor stomps this. If it is, then Luke Cage wins IMO due to a natural durability advantage. Cage has limited appearances compared to Thor so trying to scrounge up impressive hand to hand feats based off his years of training with Rand is easier said than done. I agree with this. However, holding his own as a 2 tonner back in the day against Spider-Man is not a bad feat ... hard to believe he'd do that without skill. We've all seen a powered up Thor trading mitts with Hulk, and either losing or stalemating. Hulk ain't no kung fu master. His hand to hand does not really impress either TBH.
