wolverine from the 90's vs wolverine from now

I have been a big wolverine fan since I was 4 and I noticed some change in not only character but in powers the wolverine from the 90's or as I like to call him Logan seemed a little faster stronger more agile more durable and much more of a savage berserker he seemed to use his animal like senses more as well.

where current wolverine or James Howlet seems more intelligent he seems to think more in his fights and he uses his enhanced strength speed and agility {if he still has them} seems to use his skills more often and seems to have finally tamed the beast becoming more passive.

am I reading to much into this or do you agree with my assessment either way let me know.

and if you agree go ahead and tell me who you like better and who you think will win.

Modern Wolverine has some better feats, his healing power has gotten ridiculous. So newer Wolverine wins.

In terms of who's a better character, well to me the worst thing they did with Logan was fully explain his roots. I'll take me some good ol' 80's Logan with the X-Men any day, back before Wolverine suffered from over exposure.

@greatcaesarsghost: I liked him back in the late 80's through the late 90's.

but what about logan having better speed and strength and enhanced senses feats back then real or is it just me.

Classic Wolverine is better in my opinion. He had amazing agility, senses and reflex feats. He sensed the pressure from Cyclops' Optic blast on the back of his head and dodges at the last moment. He deflects blades thrown by Longshot from behind, catches one and throws it back at him. He went toe to toe with Spider-Man and look at how he effortlessly beats Sabretooth.

Current Wolverine has a better healing factor, almost makes him immortal, but he's an overrated punching bag. He jobs to pretty much everyone nowadays... it's kinda sad :(

I miss classic Sabertooth who wasn't a joke.

Thanks for reading,

He's effortlessly beaten Sabretooth numerous times in the past year alone.

Current Wolverine. His damage soak has gotten even more ridiculous. He's brushed up on his skill quite a bit beating Iron Fist in a spar (sue me it was cool to watch), showing pressure points on alien beings, besting Daken twice, making Captain America look like a joke, one shotting the Thing with what I assumed to be a nerve strike via claws, combating the Gorgon in a gruesome fight. Logan's beefed up since the 90's.

What issue was that? Not crazy about the art but it looks like a good read

@comic_book_fan: I think Howlett was a better soldier ("Lucky Jim") in terms of commando ops and such. However, Logan is a better H2H combatant and general fighter. Jim is better with guns, too. IDK who'd win in a fight. Unarmed, Logan undoubtedly would win. However, if they were given a choice of weaponry, Jim would come out on top.

Hmmm not too sure

Daken isn't the fighter his scans make him out to be. his pheromone ability makes your depth perception askew. where you think he is he isn't because your senses are off around him.

Logan hands down.

@testament: It was a solid read if you understand the point of its progression of the plot.

Not sure what you're going on Daken about? And his disappearance move was a technique taught to him by Romulus. He was pulling the move off before he even had conscious control of the pheromone abilities.

@god_spawn:

You talking about the issue or the series as a whole?

#25 Edited by God_Spawn (37316 posts) - - Show Bio

@testament: The issue. It's a flashback series. So if you have that knowledge, it makes more sense. And a lot of the issues were standalone.
