I think Thanos did that after stealing the Power gem from him. Champion is powered by the big bang energy and gets stronger similar to the Hulk.

Champion came back to get revenge on Thanos and still got his a@# whooped! don't get me wrong, he's unbelievably strong, just not in Thanos's league! but this is about him vs Lobo, and even though Lobo's not as strong, I just don't see that champion has anything to take out the main man!

I beleive She-Hulk had the Power Gem. Her comics are ridiculous anyway. I woldn't put much on what happens in them.
