o.k a kodiak bear vs. a large lion we'll say around 500 pounds which is almost as big as they get. I say lion because of these reasons...
The lion is known to attack bigger things than a kodiak like giraffes and i have seen videos of lions attacking elephants. Even though they are pride hunters they still have the courage to attack them.
A grizzly has 5 inch claws, a thick hide of fat and muscle, and large canines but a lion his claws, fangs, a thick mane (in the animal kingdom it used to make them look larger than they really are) and has much more agility.
they are skilled hunter's and precise, the lion would let the bear run in a few times until an opening usaully a throat a common strike for all big cats. The throat on a grizzly is vulnerable, it has a large neck and alot of muscle but on the sides not below where the cat would strike the jugular.
Im say lion but if the lion is young and inexperienced then the bear.
If I'm right, the Kodiak Bear and the Polar Bear are the largest bears in the world (That are alive). Seeing how they are the largest, I'm assuming they have no natural predators. So, right their they wouldn't hesitate to attack a Lion if it messed with it. I could see the Lion going for the neck, but I can also see the bear spinning around before the lion got their. The Bear strength is stronger then the Lion. And in the animal kingdom, Strength usually wins.
90% of the time, the big bear wins. It's gonna' rear up on it's legs and make itself over 8 feet tall and reign down blows that are going to break bones. The lion's going to get the neck about 20% of the time. Half of those times, it's gonna' hit something vital... the other half, it's gonna' get fat, fur, and it's ribs splintered.
