Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, maybe cause they're not Nintendo or Sega characters? Also, I'm pretty sure you have to be a video game character to be in Super Smash Bros. I don't really know.

When he retrieves the Master Sword, he gets the fighting skills/experience of every owner before him.....which at least would give him the edge in experience, nevermind his training from a long, long dead knight. Dunno about actual fighting skills.
Anyways, since the version from SSBB is the same Link from Twilight Princess, I will go with him, as the TP Link had a secondary Wolf form as well as some seriously dangerous weapons. Plus, the Magic Armor (assuming he's carrying around a bit of money) negates any damage he would take.
I don't follow. How is 'slash slash slash" any different from Leonardo's "slash slash slash"? It's the same thing. The main point of using a sword is to cut stuff.
And yes, you do get weapons and suits....like I said. Thank you for reiterating my point....?

Except you do learn new moves in the Zelda games. In TP, you get regularly taught new techniques by the undead knight (including parries and instant-kill quick draws), and in Wind Waker you also get taught a few techniques by Ocha.

I mean, sure, Zelda was using the light arrow, but even staying in the same field as him during a sword battle is impressive.

I guess. But, in a game as free-form as Smash, skill is a factor as to what a character can or can't do.
For example-a good player might be able to take something extremely powerful (Bombs, grenades, Super Sonic, etc.,) and survive, while a less-skilled player could die from being tapped or something.
Their durability is definitely increased in Smash, but since it revolves around "King Of The Hill" style gameplay, the could actually take anything and keep going-they just get knocked off the stage.
