Round 1: Kyle Katarn c. JK: Jedi Outcast Vs. TPM Darth Maul
Round 2: Kyle Katarn c. JK: Jedi Outcast Vs. Clone Wars Darth Maul
Round 3: Kyle Katarn c. NJO Vs. Clone Wars Darth Maul and Savage Opress
Round 1: Kyle Katarn c. JK: Jedi Outcast Vs. TPM Darth Maul
Round 2: Kyle Katarn c. JK: Jedi Outcast Vs. Clone Wars Darth Maul
Round 3: Kyle Katarn c. NJO Vs. Clone Wars Darth Maul and Savage Opress
Round 1: Gotta give it to Kyle Katarn but just barely. Maul's fighting style loses to Kyle's command of the Force.
Round 2: Despite mechanical legs, Maul has slipped I feel and Kyle takes it more easily.
Round 3: Kyle takes it. Savage is a brute with no technique and by NJO, I'd say outside of the Solo/Skywalker clan, Kyle is the best swordsman.
@Maxie: Maul in the CW show was able to hold his own against a version of Obi-Wan more powerful and more skilled then both TPM Obi-Wan and Qui-Gonn. As for Savage, he's quite deadly as well. He has held his ground against Asajj Ventress, killed Adi Galla, and to date only CW Obi-Wan has been able to stop him. I'd personally give round 2 to Maul, but to each his own.
Also, while this is admittedly in a preview, Maul and Savage were shown dueling Darth Sidious. Now I know previews aren't the best evidence to go by, but the fact that Sidious slaughtered three Jedi masters in the span of a few seconds while Maul and Savage appear to be holding their own suggests to me that they've got skills, especially when working together.
Kyle is too powerful if the games are anything to go by. Countless dark jedi cut down, the leaders being more physically(spiritually???) powerful than him thanks to that little valley of the jedi ditty. All done with little experience/rustiness. Maul should be just another day at the office. As far as Kyle outside of that goes, I'm not sure; I only have read Soldier for the Empire; his before-jedi days :).
@JediXMan: Indeed. So Kyle soloes Palpatine and Luke together via sheer awesomeness. And is the most powerful being in SW.
Guess who's second?
I'd think Round 1 could go either way, with a slight edge to Kyle probably if for no other reason than his greater command over the Force. But I don't see it being an easy win for either one.
Round 2 Maul should win, but not without a fight. And if its seeing who wins a majority I could definitely see Kyle taking a few
Round 3 Kyle should win handily.
By game mechanics the Dark Jedi Kyle took down had a lort of control over The Force, using Force Lightning, augmentations, becoming invisble, friggin' Force Destruction!!!
Anyway, I say Kyle all 3 rounds with mid difficulty.
He probably stomps them on round 3 now that I think about it.
@nfactor1995: Caedus considered Kyle Katarn a threat. That's enough of an accolade lol. But I understand what you are saying. A lot of the really awesome EU characters didn't get their own novels like they deserved. Kyle was a badass, definitely on Maul's level.
It's not an easy fight at all, considering that pre-prime Maul in Legends killed a Vong, unarmed, but Kyle is going to take it. I'd say he's probably close to Windu level.
@bigsambino87: You put Katarn on Mace's level?

You mean the yu-something vong? WTF were they doing in the tpm era?
@kbroskywalker: Man, they were in the galaxy a LOT longer than most people think. Read Maul: Lockdown. It's an amazing Maul novel that really shows him as a beast, pre-prime.
@kbroskywalker: Also, the Vong are referenced in Rogue Planet, a novel set between Episodes I and II, featuring a near teenage Anakin. Vergere is in that novel.

Kyle Katarn's beard soloes.
Maul all rounds. He's a better duelist (trashing Savage, beating Jinn+Obi, being a 8, etc.) and more powerful in the force (dominating Kenobi).

Agreed. I think that Kyle wins a solid majority all rounds.
@i_like_swords: Damn, I really wish you could quote on mobile, cause that deserves a quote.
Maul could send Savage in to solo every round while sipping a martini.
