Any prep? That's the only way I see Kang coming out on top. Or if he BFR's Darkseid. That's it really. But since you have not specified, this is Kang vs New52 Darkseid. Kang wins.

It's a full out war. Both are using all their resources and followers in this battle. As to why there is a war,well I am not good at back stories so we will never know.

Darkseid wins. Kang is one of my favorite villains but he just doesn't have what it takes to take out my man Darkseid. Though I admit a little bias towards DS. If Kang has prep he could give DS trouble but he will still lose.

Seriously Saying Kang is like Lex Luthor is seriously low balling the guy. Brainiac 5 would be a much better comparison. Also I'd like to point out the B5 has used prep and tech to deal with DS b4, so this battle isn't completely out of Kang's grasp. though the fact that both have their followers ( and for DS that means all apokalips) does make it nigh on impossible.

I have to agree with you here

To me, I consider Earth based geniuses, Lex, Doom, Reed, Tony, Ray, Pym, Bats, Terrific, etc to be on one tier

then I consider cosmic level geniuses. Thanos, Darkseid, Kang, High Evolutionary, the Brainiacs, Majestic, to be on a tier higher or super geniuses

Kang would go in the latter category IMO
