The Scenario:
The idea of this thread is to allow you to build your own team from a list of given characters and modifications using a set number of points (25). You will use this team to face off in a tournament of battles against other Viners. All competitors are given the same amount of points to build their team, but the variations of characters and gear grants a multitude of options to utilize. Be sure to name your team, it will be the same team you use until the end of the tournament. When one tournament ends another may begin to give more people a chance.
This is how it will work...
The first 16 Viners to post that they want in will be put into a 16 man, single-elimination tournament.
DO NOT post your teams in the thread. Instead PM them to me
, and when all 16 competitors have sent in their teams I will check them all to make sure they all follow the rules, and are not identical and then I will post them all at the same time in order to assure no one has an unfair advantage when making their team. Names will be drawn at random to determine who faces who.Once you know your opponent and their team you may then begin to debate them as to why your team would beat theirs. Please stick to generally accepted debating practices and refrain from trolling. Treat your opponent with respect and dignity. If spectators want to correct misinformation they may, but in general let the 2 people debating keep the debate to themselves. Once a debate is finished or deemed to be over by the thread moderators ( Lunacyde, Ferro Vida, Morpheus, Vance Astro, and myself) then we will call a vote and any Viner who wishes may vote for whom he/she believes would win the fight. Please vote for who made the better team/ had a better argument as to why their team would win, NOT who you like better. This is not a popularity contest.
Setting:
The Setting is at twilight. The moon is rising and the sun is setting. Only the exterior of the island is on limit. Entering buildings is not allowed. The location is unpopulated. If a character is knocked into the surrounding waters, they are considered eliminated via BFR.
Rules:
- Please Quote or Reply to the person you are debating with. This avoids confusion as to who you were talking to and makes it easier to pick up arguments if one person has to leave for a while. It is going to be necessary with the number of people that will be arguing at once, so please follow this rule.
-Both Teams are aware of the situation.
-All characters are "in character" unless otherwise specified.
- You ONLY have 25 points to construct your team. You will be disqualified if you are over this amount.
-Victory is by death, knockout, BFR or incapacitation.
-Team chemistry does come into play.
- There is no prep time, and teams have absolutely no knowledge of each other prior to the match.
-Characters with guns have unlimited ammo unless specified otherwise.
-Characters with bows/throwing knives have unlimited arrows/knives unless specified otherwise.
-Characters still need to reload.
-Your team MUST consist of at least 2 characters.
-You may not use more than 3 add ons for a single character. Team add ons do not contribute to this total.
-No tele-dropping, tele-dismemberment, or BFR.
-If a debater fails to show up for an extended period of time (greater than a week) then the moderators have a judgment call as to disqualify them.
-Winning teams will be immortalized in the , and their teams are off-limits for future tournaments.
-Assume characters will not be freaked out or question if another version of them is on the team (aka Winter Soldier and Bucky Cap, Bone claw & adamantium Wolverine, Ult Cap and 616 Cap, Venom Gargan and Scorpion, so on and so on)

5 – Game over, man, game over! – Each member of your team has a replica of Boba Fett’s jetpack (single rocket included). They have full knowledge and training with the device. One member also has an invisible energy shield around their being which will protect them from the first hit they would take, no matter how powerful or weak the attack. NOTE: Jetpack and shield can be disabled via EMP.
3 – Like a Knife through Warm Butter- If any of your characters have a gun, ONE clip from ONE gun will be carbonadium bullets. If any of your character have a bladed weapon, ONE will carbonadium as well.
3 – I am the alpha and the omega - Begin the match with full knowledge of your foes abilities, traits, powers and potential weaknesses
3 – Bat-prep – Your team has 45 minutes to plan / strategize and is told the names and only basic powers of who they are facing. During this time they cannot access additional information on their foes or bring additional equipment.
3 – You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry - Makes character willing to kill without hesitating. Does not hinder tactical mind/abilities.
3 – Use Protection – Give 1 member of your team vibranium armor for their chest and back only. NOTE: This will not hinder the character’s speed.
3- Eye in the Sky—Your team gets a flying drone that uses full electromagnetic spectrum sensors to map out battlefield and opponents. The info is then sent to a handheld device held by one member of the team. The drone may be disabled with EMP weapons or shot out of the sky manually. It flies overhead. Keep in mind, the drone is silent. So if you’re going to debate shooting it down, debate it well or it’s not valid.
3- The Gover’nator – Enlist the help of a single T-800. The T-800 is unarmed, unless given a weapon through an add on / boost. If destroyed or damaged, the nuclear power source will NOT explode. The T-800 is programmed the kill the enemy team and will follow your teams orders. NOTE: Temporarily disabled through EMP. Assume this model has the durability from the movie versions.
3- Luna’s Desire– Call upon Legolas to join your forces. He is equipped with only his standard blade and may not be given other weapons through boosts / add ons. He understands all current tech.
3- I like it with the lights off- 1 high powered EMP sniper rifle. Has 10 shots. EMP burst travels at the same speed as a .50 caliber bullet. On contact, the burst explodes in a 5 radius, shutting down all electronics for 1 minute. Your team is NOT immune to this.
3- Say hello to my little friend – 1 Murasama Blade, 1 grenade launcher (5 rounds) for your team.
2 – Viagra…for weapons- Turns all bladed weapons into vibranium
2 – Born to Serve – Select either 5 hand ninjas (swords, nunchaku) or 3 H.A.M.M.E.R. glider troops (machine gun, pumpkin bombs). They will follow your every command.
2 – Can you hear me now? - Your team’s jumping, climbing, walking & running is silent.
2 – Size matters not - 1 canister of Pym particles for each member of your team. This will shrink them (to ) for 5 minutes IN TOTAL. The characters can shrink and re-grow on command, but may only be shrunk for a total time of 5 minutes.
2- Dr. Dolittle - Your team has Ka-Zar’s Sabretooth tiger, Zabu, on your team. He is loyal to your team and will follow your every command.
1- Medic! – 1 spray cansiter that can restore someone to full health, 1 use only. Cannot use if character is already eliminated.
1- Boom, baby! - 3 of each for your team: flash bangs, incendiary grenades, sonic grenades, claymores, tear gas grenades.
1- Fire in the hole!- 1 RPG Launcher and ammo (3 shots)
1 – Silent, but deadly -Silences all the guns on your team
1- Fanboy - 1 Replica of Cap’s shield w/ all of it’s properties
1 – Glasses aren’t for geeks - Thermal/X-Ray/Night Vision Goggles (For each member of the team) NOTE: This is disabled by EMP for the given time.
1 – We are one - Telepathic Link - Telepathically links your entire team. NOTE: If a character on your team is struck by EMP, this is disabled for the entire team for the given time.
1 – Living in LA’s lovely smog – Your team is immune to pheromones released by Omega Red, Daken, Spider-Woman and effects from tear gas and Mysterio’s hallucinogenic gas.
1 - Why Can’t We Be Friends? – Makes your team respect one another and follow each others commands and orders. In short, they’ll function as a unit and any bad blood / tempers won’t exist. They will cooperate with one another.
1 – Crystal Clear – 1 cloaking device for 1 person. Cloaking can only be used once and lasts for 30 seconds. NOTE: Characters who use this can be viewed with the Glasses aren’t for geeks add on. If in the radius of EMP, cloaking disables. The cloaking is as effective as the Predator's is in the movies.
TEAM BOOSTS:
1- We're Gifted - Your team consists of only characters who were/are considered to be on a regular roster of the X-Men or other X-teams. Your team will enter the match with knowing how many foes they're against and the general location of where the enemy team begins.
1- Bad to the Bone - Your team consists of all villains (anti-heroes do not count). Your team will enter the match with 6 generic HYDRA soldiers at your command (equipped with 9mm pistols and batons).
1- Keepin' it Classic - Your team consists of only characters who were on an Avengers roster for multiple arcs. Your team enters with full knowledge of the environment.
1-Arachnaphobia – Your team consists of all Spider-Man villains. You may select one of the following to join your team:
Boomerang – regular & explosive boomerangs, jetpack boots
Carrion – unarmed
Shriek - unarmed
1-Law? I am the law! – Your team consists of all anti-heroes. Each character is equipped with a Kevlar vest (will not harm their attributes). If the character already has a kevlar vest or pre-existing armor, they are given 1 grenade.
1- This…Is… SPARTA! – Your team consists of characters who are restricted to melee combat. These characters are now equipped with adamantium brass knuckles
