Bane's also very fast with venom and knows that Joker has the venom. If he tried to gas him, Bane would break his hand before he could even release the gas.
@FLCL1: Bane wouldn't be taken off guard by that. When he has a target he studies them down to the bone. He broke the Bat dude. That and recently he broke like a dozen people in half in just a few seconds. (He'd taken venom for the first time in a while & made quite a spectacle)

I concur. Bane should win this if it comes down to fisticuffs. Tactically speaking though, Joker has shown a mind to rival Batman's own which means he and Bane should be roughly equal. Joker could rig up something that might put Bane down but it will probably end in fisticuffs. And Bane will crush there.

With prep Bane just becomes a pawn in a grander scheme, to sacrifice as he will. He'll tamper with the Venom. He'll gas him, electrocute him, blow him up, shoot him, drive him insane. Bane's tactical mind is great, but tactics are useless unless you can predict your opponent. Bruce has been fighting him for decades and still can't figure him out. Joker wins here, people. Bane broke the Bat's back but nobody can cause him pain like Joker.

Which of Joker's prep plans ever end in him not getting caught or locked up? Bane with prep turned Clayface, Deathstroke and Two-Face into minions on roids. That plan would have ended in Batman's death if the Flash hadn't shown up. What did Joker do?
Killed Jason and crippled Barbara... if you count Arkham Asylum he turned everyone into pawns... he's done a lot throughout his career. He ends up going to Arkham because he likes it there and he likes the game, like a child running around a revolving door.

He killed Jason and that ended in him losing his short-lived job as the Iranian representative at the UN and sinking into the ocean. And killing a teenage boy is just that, killing a teenage boy. It's not like Jason was particularly renown for his intelligence back then. How is crippling Barbara a prep feat? He walked into Gordon's office and shot her. What part of that is prep? And that ended in him getting arrested again. Arkham Asylum is not canon. Either all of Joker's defeats must be viewed through the lens of "he so crazy, he loves getting arrested" or we just ignore the fact that his prep rarely ends well.

Honestly, with Joker it's easier to look away from what he does with the Bat. It IS all about the game, "Will this work? Will this crack him? Will he kill me this time or just send me away?" Like it or not he often gives himself to Bruce. But look at what happens when he faces other villains. Even up to Lex Luthor, he finds himself at the top of the food chain.

He beat up Lex in a H2H fight. Again, what part of that requires prep? What has he actually done? The best prep feat he has is becoming Emperor Joker, which would be impressive if it weren't for how historically gullible Mxy is.
